All the "official" sources got it wrong.

Shaman King (like Butsu Zone), was cancelled prematurely by the Editors of Weekly Shonen Jump. Because of the poor sales in current volumes, and lowering rank in the weekly favorite were two key factors based on this decision. Sales figures can also be misleading, since in the late 20s volumes, sales started going back up. Hiroyuki Takei was also feeling the burden the series had placed on him. Unlike other manga-ka, Takei rarely took breaks, so he had a long run. Of course the final decission did come down to Takei and he agreed to end the series.

All this "waiting for fan responce" is all made up. That was just rumors. Of course, this "news" reached the US, based off the opinion of several Japanese Shaman King Fans. Weekly Jump never asked people to send requests for Shaman King's return. Many fans have sent in requests, but you've seen how far that has gotten us...

Most fans in Japan now accept that Shaman King will most likely not return. Now we just wait for a new manga.

Actually they were deciding whether release vol 32(the last) or not, and put on a petition, but luckily it seems the votes excedeed every expectation. So it was normally released

That was one of the worst endings ever and Shaman King was a great manga on a subject that hadn't been touched before. It's like watching a movie about Suspense and crime, with a killer on loose, and the movie ends without the killer being caught nor his identify revealed.

well it is said that all the good books (for example) don't have a so called "satisfying" ending : usually they don't have a clear ending so that everyone understands something different according to their imagination, dreams etc in one word according to their mind. maybe you want a "real" ending, maybe you want to know just every little detail but i think it's ok this way too...

No, it's not a random stopping point. You'll know when you are getting close. Besides the fact that everybody is/would be complaining, there was only one thing left to do, and that last thing, never gets to happen. It's not really the climax, but it's more like an incomplete epilogue. But I'm sure, some will beg to differ.

Actually they were deciding whether release vol 32(the last) or not, and put on a petition, but luckily it seems the votes excedeed every expectation. So it was normally released
    Sorry, but that's wrong.
Weekly Jump, every week, knows what mangas are doing good and what mangas are doing bad. There is both official and unofficial rankings(some unofficial rankings can be found here: http://www.geocities.jp/wj_log/rank/). I believe every week, Weekly Jump has a survey for it's readers. This survey ranks every series that week as well as informing WJ if the one shot manga was any good. Based on these polls, WJ knows who is reading what. There was never a need for a petition, since they ask the readers every week.
Now a bit on the business part of Weekly Jump (as I see it, but may be a few miscalucations). First of all, when a reader pays for Weekly Jump, most of that money goes to production costs. Remember, WJ issues are huge, like 400 pages, which costs a lot of money to make. Then the rest of the money goes to other things such as building costs, taxes, event funding, website hosting and management, and a bit of money for the higher ups (not the manga artists). Every week (or it might be monthly basis), the manga artists recieve a paycheck. Their paycheck isn't based on (but can be influenced by), the ranking of their manga in WJ. It comes from the sales of their manga volumes. Now, if Shueisha(The company that runs Weekly Jump) didn't release the final SK volume, then Shueisha just lost +3 months worth of pay to Hiroyuki Takei. Why would Shueisha lose money, if they could do something to prevent that? The answer is simple, release the final volume and break even. Final volumes often sell more than expected. If a series is ending (manga, anime, live action, a book, what ever), even if you haven't really been following it too much, you want to know how it ends. With a new chapter in Volume 32, readers wanted too see how it ends, so that drives sales. There was never a question if the final volume would be released or not, it was going to happen. It was all about when.
The question of "when" is what caused a bit of a issue. On the Shueisha website they give release dates for their manga series. Like every other website, sometimes they make mistakes. It was accidently updated to release Volume 32 at one date, but that date was incorrect. So it was taken down, along with a couple other series that had wrong dates. People seemed to skip over that fact that other volumes for other series were also taken down for a short period of time. I believe about a week later, it was placed back on the release list at it's correct date. Of course, nobody ever checked up on that, and just started freaking out. Shueisha made a mistake, they fixed it, it happens.

I watched all this as it happened. All the English anime/manga news sources got it wrong. Let's look at an example:
    http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=5739
Japanese serialization of Hiroyuki Takei's Shaman King in Shonen Jump has been abruptly halted and publication the final volume (volume 32) of the manga, originally scheduled for December 3rd, has been delayed indefinitely by the publisher. Shueisha is reported to having stated that they will publish the 32nd volume of the series if they receive evidence of demand from approximately 50,000 people.
There they show the orginal release date, then mention "delayed indefinitely." That just means it wasn't on the release list anymore, which for a short time, it wasn't. But then it came back again.
And here is another good line; "Shueisha is reported to having stated." They never actually found Shueisha ever saying that comment. If Shueisha were to make that comment, then there would have been a press release, which there was none. This information came from some fans in Japan. As soon as the series ended in Japan, there was a couple of SK websites that started petitions in order to get SK back. These petitions started BEFORE the Volume 32 incident. The volume 32 incident only fueled the fire of a lost cause, since the volume would be released anyways. Volume 32 sales were probably one of the biggest factors if Shaman king would return.

But, Hiroyuki Takei wasn't left out in the cold. Since, based off the polls, many fans enjoyed his art style. So, Shueisha kept him on the pay roll. They gave him some time off, but he still had a job to come back to. Shueisha also sent him to Japan's two Jump Stores inorder to rank up some good sales. Now, Hiroyuki Takei is working at V-Jump (part of Shueisha), with the new manga "Smash Bomber." He is currently only working as character design and supervision of the project. From the limited pictures I have seen so far, you can tell Takei's style is very much influenced on the project. One of the main character is basically Tamao. Also, one of the main "bad guys" has the "Yoh/Hao" evil look (the one the Lyserg hates, you know, that one).

Now, hopefully that clears a bunch of stuff up (maybe this post and my other post should be added to the FAQ....).
