(i had a degree on marketing hehe)
or it could just be that KJ had to or wanted to end the series for some unknown reason, yet couldnt make up his mind on how to do that. so he tried ending it in a way in which he wouldnt lose half his fans; however, it just sucked so bad he lost more than half.

If you note the wording of the statement on the subject in 283, it's being termed a "special". Ultimately, SRZ will be weekly same as always, I'm sure.
That may be the case. However, in order for SRZ to become a weekly manga again, it will have to change magazines. So, unless SRZ goes to a weekly manga publisher (like the previous Weekly Shonen Magazine), or in the more unlikely event of Magazine Special turning into a weekly publication just to suit the needs of SRZ, SRZ is probably going to stay as a monthly manga. And it doesn't seem very likely that would happen. There hasn't been any indication that they will change magazines, and they do have history with this magazine already (since this is where they would publish their "b" chapters). It's really not that bad if it stays at it's monthly release, but KJ would really need to give us more because 16 pages for a monthly magazine is really crappy.

school rumble z has been translated. I'm not entirely happy with it. Happy enough that school rumble is back, but I do not like how its not about the regular story and some entirely different one.

^ Only so much blame can be put on the publishers. Even in the unlikely situation that the publishers dropped a bombed on him after he submitted ch.281 that said he had to end the manga in the next two chapters, he could have still given a much better ending than that. If he would have just ended the manga with an open ending (minus the time skip), I'm sure a lot more people would have been happy. If KJ knew he was going to continue the series in another magazine, why would he make such a crappy ending. It's not impossible, but the time skip really did throw the story out of whack. The best solution would be to say the time skip was all a dream, or Harima's manga, and then start the next SRZ chapter back at where they left off (Harima engaged to Eri, and living with Yakumo). Unless, the publishers forced KJ to write an ending like that, the only thing that the publishers should be fairly blamed for is ending their publication of SR. They're not the ones who wrote the horrible SR ending.

If KJ is just going to continue where he left off in SR, with the same cast, i dont see why he had to end it. SRZ could've just been another(or a few more) arcs. It seems more logical that SRZ would be, as many have said, an in-betweener, or maybe even a kind of alternate universe story.

Regarding the ending of SR, I must say the situation is somewhat similar to another manga - "Trigun". I am not really aware of all the details but I heard that Yasuhiro Nightow was forced to finish his manga at the third volume due to some problematic issues with the magazine where it was published. Then, after he went to another magazine, he started to draw "Trigun Maximum" that continued the story of his previous manga. So there might be a possibility for us to see the logical ending of the manga in the future instead these lame last chapters. I also would like to add one of the quotes from one of SR fans: "You might object that such comedies as SR never needed logical endings but, to my opinion, the author went too much into drama to leave it just like this. Personally, I think he went way to far into drama and I not very happy with this. But now he just have no other choice but to finish it properly."

I agree with that statement, except for one detail - I like how it went into drama, since it made manga deep, not just another comdy that is easily forgotten after being read once. If it was not for a drama part this subforum whould have never been what it was before.

actually I like both the drama/comedy in SR. The only thing that I didn't like about it is when KJ usually ends the drama with a reset. I wish he just resolves one situation and moves on from then.

I guess he has a hard time trying to let go of the current situation.

Any news regarding the next chapter? It doesn't feel like a monthly manga. It's taking a lot longer than normal.

btw I can't edit my post anymore so I'm posting another one =\
