Thread: Chapter 278

Finally. It seemed like forever since we got a meaningful chapter. I know, two weeks isn't long, but with the shortness of each chapter and the fact that the last two chapters have been useless, in my opinion, I'm glad to see the story going back to what the people really want to see. Is it going to be Harima x Eri or Harima x Yakumo? With this last chapter, the obvious choice would be Eri. I guess I'm more of an onigiri guy myself, but I don't necessarily hate flag either. I'll be satisfied as long as Harima gets to have a happy ending (he's sacrificed enough to deserve that much).

On a side note, does anyone else feel there's been a lack of focus on Yakumo? Being that she is the most popular character (according to the polls) you would imagine she would get more chapters dedicated to her. Also, the mangaka has already gone through the effort of putting quite a bit of focus on her throughout the manga. Since the walking festival, she made two appearances once in a b chapter and again in a # chapter that felt more like a b chapter (not counting the party at Tenma's house). Plus, those two chapters were pretty much about the same thing. I would find it really disappointing if the mangaka decides to end the series with Yakumo's "resolution" being that she has friends (that's basically what those two chapters were about). Here's hoping that she would have an impact in the next chapter.

A Flag Chapter!!

I think this would be the final Flag face-off... the winning Harima's faction will be decided by the outcome of this... it's either Flag or Onigiri... if harima succeeds, pretty much, it will be a Flag ending...

dunno why but i smell a troll from JK,not that i would be dissapointed 'bout a flag ending, but then this whole "yakumo-realizing-her-feelings" would be pointless and useless.

^^^^^ i dont think theres been a lack of focus on Yakumo. thats just how KJ organizes his work. he mainly focuses on developing one character or relationship at a time, and i guess now its Flags turn again. =/

im like the only one who thinks the story isnt gonna end yet, huh. or im just in denial =.=. all i want is for Yakumo to have her happy ending, whether it be with harima or not.=P

Yeah, I agree about the lack of focus. It isn't really anything new, though. After she won the most popular character poll, she basically disappeared for seventy chapters. By the way, I'm not sure if Yakumo still is the most popular character in Japan. She wasn't voted number one in the first two contests (but she was up there), and the poll she did win happened over two years ago. Opinions have possibly changed a bit since then.

However, popularity isn't that important.

In regards to her recent lack of appearances...what's there for Kobayashi to still deal with? Yakumo's initial conflict about lacking friends has been dealt with by her realization that she was the one pushing friends away. I think a little more clarity or resolution on her relationship with Harima might be necessary, even though I honestly don't believe anything more, in a romantic sense, will develop between them. And I'd still like to see something more final happen between Yakumo and Eri.

^ I do see what you mean, in terms of friends, but I do still think there needs to be a resolution in her relationship with Harima. It doesn't need to take up too much time. It could probably be resolved in 1 or 2 chapters, but I still think it could, and should, be clarified.
