Yeah that was sad, Really sad!!, but indeed it's an excellent development, incredible chapter like this teach us that KJ also knows how to do the drama in School Rumble. Thanks Townsocks, thanks KJ, and yeah ,im pretty sure School Rumble will get a happy ending.

well, when it came to this type of development, i dont think that tenma will just walk away from him, u know...it just so not like her...she even came to America for karasuma sake and i personally dont think that she did all that just to say 'goodbye karasuma..i dont want to be with u because u sick!! I want to be with Harima because ...' bla bla bla...

I can barely see the screen through my tears (okay I'm exagerating) but I'm still holding onto a glimmer of hope for a happy ending for everyone. One last thing how many plot threads does Kobayashi still have to wrap up before he ends this whole thing? and would you say Yakumo's character Arc over the whole series is pretty much done or is there still something there that's unresolved?
I would say there is still something left unanswered for Yakumo. We all know she likes Harima, but has she really given up on pursuing him? She was close to confessing during the walking festival, but she never did, and after that she never really did anything about it. The latest (and last) b chapter shows how important her friends are to her, but come on, that's not what people want to know. Is she ever going to truly confess to Harima, or has she decided that pursuing a relationship with him is not in any of their best interests? I'll say that still a big question left to be answered.

    ^definitely (Onigiri fan here )

Thank God Karasuma is still alive. I was hoping that he will ^^. I'm not too familiar with his sickness but if Karasuma did lose his memory and nothing else is wrong with him. Tenma can just make some new memories with him. Kinda like the ending for Midori no Hibi. I like that ending a lot.

But if theres something wrong with Karasuma's mind and there is no cure then ...

Their not my favorite couple but I'd rather see Tenma's effort gives fruit >_<

I think Karasuma's sickness is more complex than just losing his memories. I believe the way Eri explained it is that he can no longer think. Pretty much, he is an empty shell that moves based on instincts alone. Which is is why he was able to dodge Tenma when she came somersaulting at him (his instincts were telling him to dodge) and why he was just playing with that rubic cube. Everything he's doing at this point has no ulterior meaning behind it. He's just doing it for no reason. Think of him as a zombie, or a robot. Unable to express any feelings. I think that's what his sickness is all about, and that's what is supposed to make this tragic. If he simply lost his memories, than it's a no brainer, Tenma will stay with him. However, knowing that he will just be an empty shell who will not be able to reciprocate your love, is that a simple decision to stay with him? Probably not.

And probably yes, it will have a happy ending. Not for Karasuma, though, unless KJ decides to magically cure him.
I dunno. Tragedy doesn't always bring deepness, and can be overused to bring drama and plot instead of meaning. Fruits Basket is a perfect example of that.
As for Karasuma, I wouldn't rule out a good ending for him yet. One thing I noticed is that rather than confirming he doesn't remember any of the experiences, he just hasn't answered yet. Yes, the rubiks cube clacking is supposed to signify his inability to respond, but I'm not so certain that it means he can't.
And, I also see the rubik's cube as one of those misleaders. The fact that Karasuma can do the cube means that he can still think to some extent and may have some of his memories still. Maybe he is just buying time to think before talking to Tenma or just needs extreme concentration to do the cube. Alternatively, cubing could be an exercise to maintain his memory and thoughts, which is required in cubing.
Or, I might just be a severe optimist...

Curiously, did you read Hatsukoi limited through it's last chapter? Because this question was the theme of the very last chapter (32) and it gave an interesting answer to the question. It's just a reference I brought up since SR without the comedy is more or less HL.

I know that the recent turn of events have been sad and very un-school rumble like, but it still gives the story depth. Magically curing his illness, although not unlike School Rumble, would just kill the story for me. Not everything in life is happy, and although it may not seem so, it is possible for Tenma to find happiness with Karasuma's current state. Happiness comes in different forms. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I actually think this is going to happen, to a much more toned down extent. I don't think Karasuma will be cured, but I don't think he's forgotten about Tenma or his experiences yet. We'll see though...
I also agree that Tenma is probably not going to return to Japan, and if she does, it won't be very soon.

Karasuma is basically going braindead, by the way the sickness was explained. You also seem to be thinking along the same lines as me on ending possibilities in such a scenario, though, new memories wouldn't exactly be a viable solution if the person can't think anymore. I'm thinking more along the lines of Tenma staying to help Karasuma maintain his mind and memories as he slowly deteriorates.
