Chapter 258 Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Townsocks has released 258. Interesting...

- Where did Harima ever get the idea that Yakumo loved Karasuma? Weird.

- Harima reaches a new level of denseness... no, wait, it's the same level he was always at.

- Yakumo's feelings for Harima are hopefully now established beyond dispute.

- Mikoto now knows about Harima's feelings for Tenma. I suppose it was only fair since both Akira and Eri know, though it's too bad that we never got to see her reaction to it.

- Eri ????

- Poor Harima. But, it's not over yet...

I think dispute ended a while before this, but this should state it nice and explicitly for anyone else. Yay.

Looks like she really was hoping to break Yakumo out of the triangle. Or quadrangle or whatever it is by now. Point is, to me it looks like Yakumo was Eri's priority, since she seemed to expect that he would stick with Tenma. And she apparently wanted to be chosen? I don't really follow.

Kolox made a joke about this before and I never even thought of any possibility of it happening or anyone thinking of it happening. Harima proved me wrong. Maybe Harima thought that Yakumo likes manga because of Nijou-sensei. A long shot but thats the only thing I can think of.

EDIT: ah! I think I got it. Yakumo looks depressed when she came back to see Harima and that made Harima think that Yakumo was depressed because Tenma and Karasuma were getting together. So Harima thinks Yakumo likes Karasuma! does this make sense?

Yeah I agree. I think Eri expected Harima to stick with Tenma even after he gets rejected. Therefore she expected him to reject Yakumo but she was expecting to be chosen so I'm probably wrong.

This is the 1st time I felt this in SR... usually I just laugh at SR for all the misunderstandings but I feel like Beating Harima to a bloody pulp right now... there's a hot lady in front of you who has fallen for you and you still screw up so badly *SCREAMS in the background*

Ok this is all my thoughts and Ideas about Harima's sunglasses (not using any evidence or anything)

Harima wiill never be over Tenma as long as he wears those sunglasses and until he takes off disposes those sunglasses, he won't be able to see any other girl romantically.

It's a strange pun (using the word even though I dunno what it means lol) the fact that as long as he wear those sunglasses he is blocked off from all othr girls, so until he takes them off FOR GOOD. Harima may stay alone for a LONG TIME lol...

Even though he somehow in a strange way has gotten closer to Yakumo.

I reckon the last straw for Harima is when Tenma finds out about Harima's past or Harima confesses to tenma about his past. That's only when he'll take off his sunglasses. (not sure about the beard... I prefer he keeps the beard)

I think that only when he'll truely and totally give up on tenma... well that's just me.

Man the suspent is killing me... who will win Onigiri or Jersey?

How in the world did Harima think Yakumo was in love with Karasuma? Well, she was with him at the hospital where they found out Karasuma was leaving during the walking festival, and ever since the event began she been thinking about him, him leaving that is. She had been brooding over it while the two were handcuffed together, and she WAS the only person who saw him up in that tree. Perhaps Harima was actually being perceptive and saw just how much Karasuma was on Imouto-san's mind. If you give Hige a little bit of credit then I guess it can be understandable that's what he would think.

As for Yakumo, it's been established quite some time ago that she really likes Harima. Perhaps it because of what she's gone through this night, but she's getting a little bold. Unfortunately it was cut off by another one of Harima's misunderstandings. Still, even with the misunderstandings he still wants to be with her as a partner, so maybe it's not all that bad.

Basically,
-Eri thinks Harima didn't reject Yakumo
-He actually did in his own way ("YOU LOVE MANGA THAT MUCH!")
-He still can't stop thinking about Tenma, even though his resolve is weakening
-we finally find out Yakumo's feelings for sure (no conclusive evidence before this, she was all over the place)
-everything is up in the air again except for the fact that Karasuma might actually be dying and that would open up a window for Odou's chance since a dead Karasuma would make True Odou impossible.

Sorry about this being a relatively late post to this thread, but I am a new comer to School Rumble and this forum. I have just finished power reading through the manga up to 264 and have read many of the threads and theories put forward by many of you.

I think that there has been a major aspect of the story that has not been discussed in detail up to now (or at least, if it has I missed that thread). Yakumo's main obstacle when it comes to Harima is not Eri, it's her sister Tenma. Some have said that Yakumo has been all over the map, even trying to get Harima and Tenma together. I don't think that she has. She has set up a few situations that put them alone together, but she has never tried to get Tenma to see Harima the way she does. She has never talked about his good points or done any of the other things that friends or family do when they are trying to get two people together.

The telling line in this chapter is actually on the first page, when Yakumo thinks: "I knew how Nee-chan felt. In other words, I settled this whole thing myself. I'm sorry." Yakumo fully expected Tenma to break Harima's heart.

There is more evidence for this in the previous chapter in her reaction to Karasuma's news: "at this rate it's all going to fall apart, nee-sans... karasuma-san's... everyone's ... mine...". Yakumo's because she knows that for Harima's heart to be free, Tenma's has to belong to Karasuma and this will only happen completely if Karasuma confesses to Tenma.

The last exchange that I find interesting is the one between Eri and Yakumo in 264 talking about Karasuma: "that's not a manly excuse - this is trouble for you too". Eri understands the impact of Karasuma vacating the picture as well as does Yakumo.

KJ has given many indications in the manga that Yakumo's personality is shifting. She has lied to her sister for the first time (about staying over at Harima's), the flashbacks to their childhood show that she was not always the dutiful little sister, her confession to Sara about all the things that she has buried inside of herself. In a battle for Harima, I would not bet against Onigiri.
