yeah having the old ones as a reference help but sometimes it can also hinder us. If we keep telling the newbies to go and read a 5-10 pages topics before they can join a discussion. I don't think they'll be motivated to join in again.Yes. But previous are gone. We can always make a new discussion while having old ones around.
we don't need to explain obvious things. if they want to join in the discussion and not know the basics. tell them to google or a link to the an appropriate site (thats why we have that sticky for SR related site before). You'll explain who is Yoshidayama 1 time and then tell them that you already did. It will be the same. With the difference in wasting time explaining obvious things. Newbies always had the right to follow up to what is happening and join discussions, looking at how a lot of people joined just recently.
the basics are called basics because its something that anyone who reads the manga can easily remember. ^^
EDIT: ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!! thats a big OW!
However, we have never done this this before. This section was pretty friendly to newbies (at least to those who knew what B chapters are). It may be my problems with memory, but I don't recall telling anyone to go read some other huge thread just to get to know Swampstrom's opinion on slap.yeah having the old ones as a reference help but sometimes it can also hinder us. If we keep telling the newbies to go and read a 5-10 pages topics before they can join a discussion. I don't think they'll be motivated to join in again.
yeah your right. we never tell them to read them but sometimes (well I did) we tell them that this has been discussed before and after that they never reply back. I wish theres a way to help them keep track of things.
hmm a summary thread perhaps? err thats too hard. If I think of something I'll tell everyone >.>
I asked Jakko if he could revive stickies, but it seems it won't happen soon. Maybe - as the most active here - should decide about other threads in this section.
BTW I was thinking of making that Newbie thread. If no one objects I'll make one.
I was thinking of putting FAQs like
What are b chapters?
When does the Third Season start?
Where did the anime stopped in the manga?
Which volumes does the b chapters belong to?
What are Onigiri and Flag?
What are Factions?
done Check if there is anything to add
