Chapter 212 discussion (*there is spoilers there*)

Inside her house she hugs her dog on top of her bed. There's a flashback of Tenma, Akira, and Suou talking with text saying "When they met she was a girl who didn't stop smiling. Next day at school Sawachika is sitting on her desk and looks out the window she freaks out and opens it. Outside is Tenma writing I'm sorry in the snow, Sawachika goes outside and asks her what is she doing. Tenma tells her not to look she isn't done yet, but Sawachika tells her to erase it. Tenma tells her why if she doesn't finish writing it, it won't feel like an apology. Sawachika tells her to erase it because its embarrassing. Suou tells Akira that the two of them have been acting strange lately and Akira asks is that why they are doing this so early in the morning. Tenma and Sawachika erase the writing. Tenma tells her that at home she kept thinking of a way and this is what she came up with. Sawachika asks her what would she have done if it melted before she saw and that she can't leave her alone. Tenma then says "ehehe I'm sorry eri-chan". Akira tells Suou see they are getting along fine which Suou replies by saying she doesn't understand them. Tenma finds a dandelion and shows it to Sawachika then remembers homework that is due today. She asks Sawachika and she tells to go back inside and chapter ends with Sawachika with a face like she's thinking about something.

Tenma owns the situation, it seems...

I guess flag will cool off for a while. Some oodou action would be nice, as would the somewhat built up onigiri.

It never mentioned what happened to Yakumo and Tenma afterwards. Tenma wanted Yakumo to apologise. Did Tenma convinced Yakumo she was wrong? Did Yakumo decided to let Tenma do as she wish?

I suppose this is a good enough time and place to ask this. I've been wondering since finding this site, what's with the factions? In the first place, what are they all? And in the second place, are they universal? Or just for here? Some are obvious - I've picked up about Onigiri and Flag, for example, but what on earth is Bloody Mary all about? Or any of the others? Please, please enlighten me!

On topic - not surprised about Tenma telling Yakumo to apologise, or Eri feeling repentant. The rest of it seems a little disappointing though. I was hoping things would come to a head, but it looks like Eri is continuing her paralysed existence schtick. The sooner she comes out and straight apologises to Tenma, the better.

Excellent, it sounds like this chapter is going to follow a scenario I wanted. Eri is solidifying her position as main protagonist, while Yakumo is replacing Tenma as Eri's antagonist. I’d take Yakumo over Tenma as Eri’s antagonist any day.

There was never any battle between the two. The faction clash between Eri and Yakumo after the slap is just something fans had been hyping that isn't going to happen.

I'd say both Eri and Tenma won, since both sides win whenever two friends reconcile!

Yakumo is in trouble, though, since Tenma didn't like the slap. Tenma most likely didn't press the issue on Yakumo since she was too busy obsessing over apologizing to Eri.

So long as the story focuses on Eri, the plot will revolve around Flag. I doubt we’ll see much Oudou action, since some tension between Tenma and Yakumo seems to be developing, and Yakumo is Oudou’s only real supporter at the moment (other than Harima), so I doubt Tenma will be as willing to listen to Yakumo as before.

Kobayashi seems set on making Yakumo an antagonist so I doubt the story will focus directly on her too much lest we develop sympathy for her, making Onigiri unlikely. Also, neither Harima nor Yakumo wanting to participate in Onigiri makes that possibility unlikely.

According to the summary, it says that Tenma was thinking all morning about a way to apologize to Eri, so I think Tenma was too preoccupied to correct her sister’s actions at the time. There should be some tension between them stewing, but I don’t know if Kobayashi will actually focus on it since he seems to avoid Yakumo’s character whenever possible.

You can’t really expect everything to get resolved in a chapter. There’s this thing called suspense... which is the enemy of all impatient people, and the leading cause of people condemning authors as greedy bastards.

Back to the chapter--I’m not worried about Eri apologizing to Tenma, anymore, since it’s been shown that she wants to reconcile. She’ll reconcile when she’s ready; it's only a matter of when now, not if.

The more pressing concern is Yakumo, whom just slapped Eri and walked off without showing any remorse despite Tenma telling her to apologize. She's the one in need of redeeming herself in front of the audience as well as the characters in the manga.

I still Eri is still acts like a frustrated little lady, but at least Tenma doesn't care. If it wasn't for Tenma, Eri would never brought herself to try to reconcile. Moreover, Eri knows that her anger on Tenma is stupid and meaningless, but she isn't going to admit it (as far as I understand that it is hard to admit being complete idiot, by being an adult you should be more responsible for this).

So I congratulate Tenma for her persistence and knowing the word of "friends" - since Eri seems to be still on kindergarten level when it comes to this. Tenma actions leads to reconcile - I don't see any movements from Eri.

Edit : (but it's still to early to say that, since we don't have the raw...)

It seems you failed to realize the sarcasm in my statement regarding who won the "battle."

I find your comment that Eri seems to be on a kindergarten level hilarious considering Yakumo just slapped Eri last chapter. Having trouble admitting you're wrong is something people of all ages have difficulty doing, while problems with violence is something mainly children have difficulty with. The kindergarten statement would be far more appropriate applied to Yakumo, who actually does have a problem best exemplified by children.

I'm not saying Yakumo action were good and I never said that before, but I won't back off when I said that Eri is acting like brat. Being and adult,no - being mature is being responsible for your actions. In world we have lot's of "kidults" - adults who acts like kids - and because there is lots of them, it's not an excuse to act like them. From all the group, how much unexpected it seems, Tenma acts most mature. She knows of her own clumsinesses and being too fast in saying something which might hurt someone - feeling that is the case, she admitted she was wrong and she wants to apologize (it's impossible for Tenma to get Eri's real reason of her anger, since - in my opinion - she didn't do anything wrong, it's just Eri who is jealous and insincere).
As for Yakumo, she will if she is not already suffer consequences of what she did, so I'm just leaving her alone (..Eri and Yakumo can sometimes be really similar)
