When Eri was talking to the man that looked like Harima she also said that it would be nice to have someone like her father in class (Chapter 185)

The grand unifying theory behind all this is that Harima is a sugar daddy; he's like the next George Clooney.
    OMFG LOLZ !!!!!!!1111111

You are totally right: taking into account Tae's love for Harima we can easily prove it. We all know that Tae is older then Harima; we all know that Tae is into men of her age (her talkes about how her boyfriend left her proves it); so the fact of her falling for Harima means that he left an impression of a total grown-up to her.

    Sugar daddy FTW!!!!!!!!!!!

^ The true porpose of Yakumo: Electra Complex thread was to develop, establish and bring into masses a complitely new, original and revolutionary theory: everything in School Rumble spins around Electra Complex. It is obvious that two most developed female characters have EC, which made them fall in love with Sugar Daddy Harima (see? two great theories are connected here!!!!!). Since this two are obviously the ones who interest KJ the most - they have the most developmet, the most screen time, we can easily make a conclusion about true desire of an author.

All this means that KJ is really interested in little girls (from here goes EC, sugar daddy and so on) - the purpose of SR was to build a dream world, where school girls, while seeking thier fathers, fall in love with a character who is just like KJ. A real haven for a sugar daddy, yeah. And KJ is obviously that SD.

    Here's what i think:

Eri -- For Eri's case, according to Wikipedia, Eri has always been listening to insincere confessions from the various boys in her school, who are out for Eri's looks instead of Eri herself (inner beauty?). Being a lonely girl at heart because the boys has actually no interest in her and she does not get to spend time with her parents, especially her dad, all she wanted was a normal relationship where someone would love her.
Harima's accidental confession to her stands out because it was true and sincere (she looked surprised, a look she never gave to the other boys), and Eri slowly started to think subconsciously that Harima could give her what she longed for - a person who sees Eri as who she is. So by hearing the confession, Eri thinks that Harima "loves" her for who she is.
In summary, Eri loves Harima because he was able to give Eri what she wanted - somebody to actually like Eri as herself, instead of the looks.

Yakumo -- Close proximity and the number of hours alone in the room. Also, i think Harima is the first guy Yakumo is the closest with. And talking to animals helps. Harima is also the only guy who does not attempt to make a move on her. Maybe he stands out, apart from the other guys Yakumo has seen?

Tae -- I don't know. Just an excuse to add a new character. Harima must have resembled her ex-boyfriend or something. Or KJ plans to turn SR into a harem manga sooner or later, what with the number of girls who loves Harima.

I don't know where those who were wrighting Wiki's article have taken that those confessions were "insincere" - we have only seen one boy confessing to her and we do not know what he was after - inner beauty or appearence. Although it is very likely that he was attracted by her looks, we still can't say for sure.

Also, I do not see how falling for girl because she is cute can be seen as something wrong.

Being a lonely girl at heart because the boys has actually no interest in her and she does not get to spend time with her parents, especially her dad, all she wanted was a normal relationship where someone would love her.
Thats one pretty strange claim since like hell a lot of guys are interested in her. She is lonely because 1) She has almost no contact with her family (as you said) 2) She loves none of those interested in her boys.

You are right when saying that at first she was surprised buy Harima's passion, but that was destroyed immideately by Tae, so I do not think that this case alone can be taken as something that made Eri fall in love. It was just a beggining of a series of moments that made her feelings what they are now.

In summary, Eri loves Harima because he was able to give Eri what she wanted - somebody to actually like Eri as herself, instead of the looks.
I do not think that this conclusion is right - Eri thought that Harima loves her for something like 30 seconds, not longer, since Tae appeared right after Harima's false confession. What we can be sure about is that Harima's passion left certain and very strong impression, that influenced Eri's feelings greatly and made them move from point "indifference" towards point "love".

Yakumo's feelings and thoughts are a very complex ground so I'll refrain from commenting on this.

    Both may be the case.

Well, i am sure what they wrote is correct, because i also noticed that Eri ponders about Harima's confession while she does not do the same on that particular boy. It must have some type of effect on her. And she ends up liking him.

Also, I do not see how falling for girl because she is cute can be seen as something wrong.
Yeah, its not wrong. But Eri does not want somebody who loves her because she is cute.

Sorry, my mistake. What i meant is that this guys only liked her because of her looks, and not as Eri herself, meaning that the boys will dislike her straightaway the moment she becomes ugly. Eri wanted some affection, something which her dad owes her, and i think she wants somebody who could love her like what a normal dad would do.

Yeah, you have a very good point there.. But the fact that the confession got her attention still remains.

I think Eri knows that the confession wouldn't sound sincere if Harima loves Tae. But yes, Harima's passion left a very strong impression, which i'm sure is the foundation of Eri's affections.

Yakumo's feelings and thoughts are a very complex ground so I'll refrain from commenting on this.
Hope that KJ could shed some light on Yakumo's affections as the story goes along. Come to think about it, i am not too sure whether Yakumo loves Harima, after doing some thinking.

    Both may be the case.

The fact that Eri ponders about Harima's confession means that this one left a huge effect while others didn't, not that other confessions were insincere.
The difference between this two confessions was pasion that Harima had and that otehr guy lacked. While they both were sincere.

Yeah, its not wrong. But Eri does not want somebody who loves her because she is cute.
I don't remember her saying that she doens't want guy to love her only because of her appearence. She merely wants to date a guy that she loves, not just any guy. This is the decisive diference between Harima and that guy.

Perhaps you are rigth. Although it is possible that this guy will start to treasure Eri's soul as well, not only her looks, so change in her appearence won't affect his feelings greatly.

    True.

Most of people here are not sure actually We hope that KJ will show more thoughts of hers' as the story goes on.
