It's a fun idea. I think one thing to consider is ranking already existing doubles teams. For example, if Eiji and Oishi have low ranks for their skills alone, then golden pair would be an auto-pick as they are a relatively cheap pair that'll compete with the very best teams. But if you have Eiji and Oishi ranked with that in mind, they'll be overpriced if anyone wants to get creative and say, put Eiji in Singles 3. Basically, there wouldn't be any reason to not pick teams that already exist, or split up teams with skilled players to play singles. I think maybe have a penalty on picking teams that already exist. So for example, if Eiji is 8 points, Oishi is 8 points, having them play singles would make them cost 16 points, but having them play doubles together would cost 20 or so points.
I think it may also be good to think of a way to resolve ties. So for example, after 4 matches, it's tied 2-2, then in the final match, we have Sanada vs. Sanada, we have a tie. We need a way to resolve something like this
