Ok, so a famous warrior called him the strongest. I guess I'll just concede, 'cause it's not really worth arguing about either way.

I still think that even with Sanada beating Tezuka, a good rivalry has to have a good history, which Echizen/Sanada definitely doesn't have. They haven't ever had any "real" full power matches, and their progress levels have always been so different that their growth isn't even able to be compared. They're just two top class players who have different goals as it stands now.

I disagree. I think Echizen and Sanada have a rivalry that is kept hidden.

But rivals are usually supposed to be at least comparable in strength. According to these new chapters, Sanada's been strong enough to most likely beat a peak strength Tezuka since he first played Echizen, so that's out the window.

Where are you getting the sense that there's a rivalry? I really think if there was one, Sanada would've at least done more than basically throw the match in the finals against Echizen by concealing his moves. Even if he sees Echizen as a potential threat in the future and is aiming for him after he beats Tezuka, that's not as much of a rivalry as it is just a matter of beating those at the top in Sanada's case.

The 'hidden' Echizen/Sanada rivalry is nonexistent. Thats just a concoction from a Sanada fanboy. There is a Echizen/Tezuka rivalry, Echizen/Kintarou rivalry, every permutation of rivalry between Tezuka, Sanada, and Atobe, but no Echizen/Sanada rivaly.

Their only match watch was pumped up because it was a determining match for the win and the match was very Ichigo v Kempachi-ish.

I don't think Echizen/Sanada have a rivalry either, but I think Sanada's attitude is muuuuch better than Yukimura's for a "final boss"...unless Yukimura shows personality later.

In any case Echizen's target is Nanjirou. That's his biggest "rival".

But for now, Echizen has to beat the people who he hasn't settled a score with. That means his first targets would have to be Tezuka, Fuji, and Kintarou.

Nonexistent? First of all there is no Echizen/Tezuka rivalry. Tezuka has no intention of being in that position of playing to beat Echizen. Echizen/Kintarou, yes. They both feel the need to play each other to the end. After Sanada saw Echizen's potential, he wanted a rematch. Now, when Echizen sees Tezuka get beat by Sanada, it will spark a rivalry between the two. That is why I said the rivalry is hidden. I'm getting tired of everybody mindlessly saying I am getting these ideas simply because I like Sanada.

For me, rivalries need to have more personality. Simply having both players acknowledge each other's skill or potential and want to play a match because of this isn't much of a rivalry, it's just a natural feeling among those who want to be the strongest. Given that, there's nothing really specific that sets Echizen/Sanada apart from any other random match among the elite in PoT. Rivalries need storylines, and Echizen/Sanada doesn't have a very strong one.

    Lets be realistic shall we?

If somebody punched you in the face for no reason, boom. You have a new rival. Its human nature. Its the same thing with Sanada. Echizen beat him, and he wants revenge when he is done with Tezuka. Echizen will witness Tezuka get beat by Sanada, and it will spark Echizen to want revenge for beating the only person who beat him.

Echizen - Tezuka is more of a rivalry than Sanada - Echizen for sure, it's hinted strongly through the entire story.
