Are you talking about the reserve player? Seigaku is cheating in a similar sense but not the same. Horio is just coverin gfor Echizen to allow the matches to start for his sempais. Echizen still intends to play his own match though. But it is unfair that Echizen gets the extra training/recuperating time that everyone at the court doesn't have.

No wonder why Echizen is the best, he puts in the "HANGONIALMOSTDONE" Cheat code.

^No. Echizen himself is a cheat code. Even if he never met his dad before the match, he would have magically won anyways.

Right, the reserve player. If rules are actually enforced here, Seigaku could get into trouble. And heck, are the officials blind or something that they can't tell the difference Echi and Horio?!

Why would the officials be able to tell anything? They wouldn't know any of the tennis players (even though everyone else in POT knows) and the only people Seigaku have to fool are RikkaiDai and the people who actually know Seigaku.

Okay, let me change that--not really distinguish but I don't know, maybe sense that something's odd considering how uncomfortable Horio seemed to be. But yeah, granted that they don't really have close contact with the players, a slip is likely.
About Rikkai, the disguise must've been really effective to fool them in the line up (they do face each other on the net, right--unless that changed too)...but then, that could just be Konomi's way of giving more special treatment to Ryoma (as well as his other exaggerated antics in the gameplay that makes me just @_@ sometimes).

Stick a cap over your head, look down, and don't say anything. The behavior is not especially un-Ryoma-ish, with his shyness/arrogance. And Horio is about the same size and has no especially distinguishing features. Obviously they have found out now that Ryuzaki and Momo flipped out and Momo left by helicopter.

Lol. I'm pretty sure that the officials are just retarded. They're not supposed to let players keep playing with injuries. We've already seen that that doesn't happen.

See, the officials are inconsistent in their abilities. Why would the officials be able to tell that Fuji's hakuryuu was out of bounds when it was so fast and close while they messed up the call on Inui's smash during the 1st Hyotei match?

Second theory without a doubt.
I was extremely annoyed to find out that Nanjiroh wasn't beaten in the manga, just a few balls got past him. I'm still waiting for it to appear in the manga though.
