They are both based on the same person. Only Yukimura was the Nickname of Sanada Nobushige.
Sanada Yukimura = Japan's best warrior.
Sanada and Yukimura = lead junior high tennis players in Japan. Captain/Vice-Captain of longstanding Rikkaidai team that has won the Nationals countless times. Sanada > Tezuka (previously considered god-like).
See the correlation?

An interesting tidbit (that was already pointed out to us (I think by Feez, but not sure)):
Yukimura's forces were eventually defeated. According to The Life of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu by A.L. Sadler, in his intense fight against the wavering Echizen troops, Yukimura was badly wounded, leaving him exhausted. Soldiers from the Echizen army guickly went to Sanada. Too tired Yukimura allowed the men to kill him, saying, and I quote, " Go on, take my head as your trophy". Sanada died honorably, leaving behind a legend. His grave is now located in Osaka.
lol, were there really echizen troops or is that made up?
You can't trust wikipedia since any idiot can update it.
We can trust wikipedia since all its updates are checked within 30 min in of the updates. Wikipedia is the most underestimated source.
Wikipedia is great, you can usually tell if an article is eff'd up or not.

Considering the mention of death, do you think Echizen would be inflict some sort of damage on Yuki that would end his tennis career?
No, he'll probably just beat him.

But with the whole injury theme...
