New technique, you say? I speculated on that with two scenarios in Final Order Predictions thread (in two of my numerous predictions ^_^).

    1) Sanada would show HJnK while playing Fuji.

    2) Sanada would show Kuu (his 5th style) while playing Echizen:

    "Singles 1: Echizen vs. Sanada

A rematch between these two, with Sanada being serious from the start this time.

Both use the SoSA right off the bat, but Sanada's experience and physical abilities give him access to more techniques so he starts in the lead. Echizen starts mixing in his own shots, including Cool Drive, after which Sanada starts trying his Fuurinkazan styles one after the other, gaining a bit with each until Ryouma finds a way to counter it. It looks like Sanada has shown all his cards and Echizen is in control, but then Sanada unleashes "Grasp like the Void" (I guess that would make it Fuurinkazankuu? Or Kuufuurinkazan? Whatever). Sanada enters a mental state (this is a mental ability as opposed to the other four being physical) where he feels no pressure and has extreme concentration at the same time, which combine to give him a grasp of everything happening in the match. One result is that he starts anticipating Ryouma's moves and uses Tezuka (Sanada) Zone. He also starts placing his shots in Ryouma's blind spots like World of Ice (Void). Ryouma's only answer to this is to reach the Pinnacle of Perfection and win the match."

Remember folks! You heard it here first! Now all Mr. Konomi has to do is have Nagoya win to ruin my day. >_<

By the way, my standing on this is still the same. Nationals Atobe is a better player than Kantou Sanada, but if Rikkaidai beat Nagoya Sanada will be better than Atobe was.

I think it was planned like this from the start, so the Attacker Sanada fights the Defender Fuji. Personalities work into this as well as tennis skill
I just think it like it is.

In my opinion, Atobe was only better than Sanada with his world of ice technique. With skill alone, I would still say Kantou Sanada is better than Nationals Atobe. But that is just me.

-And this might be a stupid question, but what is "Nagoya"?

What do you mean with "skill alone"? Without FuuRinKaZan and World of Ice Atobe should be better than Sanada (the whole thing about Sanada needing Mountain to beat Atobe, even when Atobe doesn't use World of Ice).

-Nagoya is Rikkai's opponent in the other semifinal.

    Ahh quite true!
Maybe all FuuRinKaaSan(sp?) would be countered by Fuji's 4 counters! Ahh >_< how unlucky...

Hm.. when Seigaku was facing Hyotei, and there was a flashback of Sanada and Atobe in this "training camp" thing (the bit where Rondo (?) destruction was introduced) did they mention about Atobe defecting Sanada with that move or is it just my bad memory?

Personally, i agree with the people that says emperor sanada being stronger than atobe, this is clearly because of the matches they both had with Ryoma. Atobe struggled and used up every technique he's got to try and defeat Ryoma (even though in the end he lost) but Sanada had made Ryoma struggle and "suffer" in a way that only Nanjirou and Tezuka had done. He also saw the "samarui" of Ryoma when facing him and had only used 2 of his special moves. To be honest, Ryoma's win against Sanada was shocking =|

Thats meh girl. What a point you have. Only Tezuka and Sanada saw the samurai within Echizen, which only comes out when Echizen surpasses his limit, and even that is not enough. Whoever says Atobe is better than Sanada, is underestimating Sanada. To be honest, the only reason why Echizen won was because he is the main character.

Sanada's whole strenght lies inside the FuuRinKaZan, while Atobe can still kick ass without using a special technique.
And Echizen winning against Sanada was partly Sanada's own fault. Using Wind and Fire against a SOSA-user was suicidal. That's also one of the reasons why he can't use the other two against Echizen (or all four against any SOSA-user).
Echizen won against Sanada because he has broken the FuuRinKaZan and still had an ace up his sleeve (Cool Drive). Echizen won against Atobe with pure willpower and nothing else. Sanada would have never won a tiebreaker under the conditions of that game against Echizen. Actually I think if Sanada doesn't develope a new very strong technique, or starts to take full use of SOSA, he won't even stand a chance against Echizen the next time, while Atobe can still hold of with him. And that is why I think Atobe is (far) stronger than Sanada.

-Sanada's strength does not revolve around his FuuRinKaZan, he was beating Atobe badly without it.

    -Sanada held back on Echizen.

-You are still comparing Nationals Atobe to Kantou Sanada.

Mmkay, forgot about that... but it just supports my point more...that means that Sanada wouldn't need the SoSA either.

Reigion, it's true that Sanada's strength doesn't revolve around FuuRinKaZen. And how can you say that Atobe can still be that good without using special techniques? He had to use World of Ice of Echizen, and I don't doubt that he would be forced to on Sanada as well. It's clearly shown in their little match.

    1) No, it's actually hinted that Sanada would lose against (Kantou) Atobe if he doesn't use FuuRinKaZan (Sanada uses it when he's droven into a corner and they say he beats Atobe everytime with it)

2)He just didn't really use SOSA, because he's arrogant, which is actually Sanada's greatest weakness.

3)Sure, that is why I say that he might have a chance if he developes a new, very strong technique (or really uses SOSA, but looking at his personality...)

So as I said: I think that without FuuRinKaZan, (Kantou) Atobe (and Renji, Inui, Tezuka, Ryoma, Fuji and everybody that has equal strenght[Kantou level]) can, more or less easily, beat Sanada in a fair match.

No all that is shown is that Sanada can win with FuuRinKaZan. (and as I stated it's hinted that he needs it)
Also when Echizen broke the World of Ice, Atobe still put on one hell of a match, while Sanada just plainly died when Echizen broke Fire (okay 3 good Lobs and after that? nothing even with SOSA on. Sanada is no match as long as he can't use FuuRinKaZan (even the Lobs just worked because Echizen has a Super-Attack playstyle, was in SOSA for a long tome and is a little bit shorter than the rest, it wouldn't have worked with Atobe)
