I remember them talking about Pete Sampras once or twice in the manga. He's now retired but he was really good. I think he won maybe 14 grand slams? I'm pretty sure they mentioned some other players. I think Agassi was mentioned too. He just retired. Lleyton Hewitt is still playing, I think....

Lol. Yeah. Football isn't very big in the US. And it's called soccer over here too. But anywayz. Np. I've been watching tennis since I was very young, so I've watched all the professionals they've mentioned in PoT on TV. Lol.

    You mean shoulder pads?

American football can be explained as rugby with pads, helmets, and additional rules. Cheerleaders...gotta love them and no American football players they don't usually fight; hockey players fight not American football players.

    Back to the main topic.

I've watched professional tennis as well and play at a club where ranked players train, a young player beating a pro isn't all that significant nor is it that rare. However, beating a top 50 ranked player is completely different. Lleyton Hewitt is one of the biggest underachievers in tennis but a 14 year old on any circuit beating him is completly unrealistic.

There are plenty of young players out there that can beat professionals like Scoville Jenkins and Donald Young but they are not even close to the level of the top 50 players.

The professionals mentioned in the manga are top players if not legends. "Pistol" Pete Sampras, Michael Chang, Goran Ivanišević, Andre Agassi, Tommy Robredo, and even Andy Roddick - these guys defined modern tennis.

Don't forget Jim Courier, Tommy Haas, Tim Henman, Thomas Johansson, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Carlos Moya, Mark Philippoussis, and Cedric Pioline.

They were also in the same league as Agassi and Sampras

Yes, although I don't remember them being mentioned or alluded to in the manga or anime.
