Thread: Freshman 15?

Has anyone else noticed how much they grow in 1 or 2 years? Echizen looks so much younger than Momo.... But they're only 1 year apart. One time as a joke I said, "I think they drug the freshman with steroids or something at the end of the year." But think about it. During the flashbacks Momo and Kaidoh look really young. Not only did they grow like 15 inches, their faces matured like 4 years. I only grew maybe 3 inches from 7th to 8th grade.. Same with the 3rd year regulars. Compare Tezuka, Fuji, and Oishi from the flashbacks. That was during their freshman year. They grew and matured a WHOLE lot during 1 or 2 years. I just found it kinda interesting how growth is so over exaggerated. Anyone else think so? Or am I just crazy?

It's called puberty. Some grow more than others. And Echizen is obviously a late bloomer

Even his dad calls Ryoma dwarf. However, there are suble differences in his appearance as the anime progresses. But I agree that there seems to be an exaggeration on the height differences and the way they look.

i wasn't referring to echizen. i'm refering to the rest of the regulars. They all look about Echizen's height in all the flashbacks. Yet they all seem to have grown so much in either 1 or 2 years. Especially Momo and Kaidoh.

mayb only happened to the type of momo and kaidoh..bcoz they r the type that ' i cant lose to him', so they drink milk everyday..lol
but speaking of height..rokkaku's captain is only freshman right?same as echizen, yet he is quite tall.at least taller than they all when they r in their 1st year

Fuji is 5"7 and Ryoma is 4"9

Where did you get your information, Akeela? Echizen is 151 cm. 151/2.54=59.4. Meaning Echizen is 4'11.4"...... As for Fuji, he's 167 cm. 167/2.54=65.7. Meaning he's 5'5.7".

Either way... a 6 inch growth over 2 years is a lot unless you're a tall black kid or a tall white kid. There really isn't anything outside that (but for the occasional Asian like Yao Ming).

It's probably just used to exxagerate the age differences between players of different years... Hell, take out the "probably."

The person I saw least change in was Akaya... all he did was get longer hair and more height from his freshy to soph years. After them, it's really shown how they aged.
