I know! I was so excited when Tezuka announced he was better again!! ^.^ Ryoma's not very good at ping pong.... He's just good at tennis, so he carried that over to ping pong. Although I don't think the Drive B would work in ping pong... The table's so small... They kinda exaggerated it a little. That guy must be really bad at ping pong to lose that badly to Ryoma.

Nope. Supposedly that guy who played against Ryoma is a good pingpong player who quit the team just to be able to play pingpong against other jocks in other sports. I don't remember if he specifically was after Ryoma.

I'm curious why Tezuka was never featured playing other sports. Of course, when these were shown in the anime he was injured already but still there could have been other opportunities.

Idk. You get to see Tezuka play beach volleyball with everyone else in OVA 7. Tezuka also bowls with them in the manga, although you don't really see him physically bowl. Lol. Maybe Tezuka will be there next time they do some weird "let's play other sports" activity. He was injured when they had the school event to try other sports. And he wasn't part of the surprise party for Ryuzaki where the regulars played other sports to distract her.

In the manga, Ryoma and co. play beach volleyball only once, with Rokkaku. The match against the Sasabes never happened in the manga. Perhaps that is why the OVA went for an "alternate universe"-ish premise (Prince of Beach Volleyball) instead of just a break in training like in the manga.

As for bowling, Tezuka never bowled even in the manga; his arm was injured, and he and Kawamura sat out.

Anyway, I thought it was hilarious that Ryoma was just so gosh darned awful. And then there was the scene where he was so excited and announced that he was going to do a twist serve - and he did a little twitch like he was wagging a non-existent tail ... that was just too cute. And Tezuka's reaction was priceless too; it was like he was dealing with a hopelessly naughty puppy.

Overall, I found the "It's a Date" episode the funniest (Inui, with his true-but-incredibly-misleading information and Tezuka as his foil ... too good). However, I laughed hardest at the sight of Oishi doing ballet - that was just so unpredictably outrageous that it simply takes the cake.

I also liked how the only way Ryoma hit the ball in beach volleyball was with his head. Talk about using your head. Lol.

Lol! No kidding. Oishi doing ballet was so funny! Oh well. I guess he did what needed to be done.

I think that the reason Ryoma so totally sucks at volleyball this time round is because he was trying to do all the moves from tennis. In the episode when he played against the Sasabe pair, he was just playing. Also, they seem to have forgotten about tennis totally in this episode. So maybe Ryoma was trying to play volleyball tennis-style sub-consciously? I could be wrong though...

Lol. Maybe. Watching Ryoma attempt to use the Drive B was absolutely hilarious. I think he also tried the Cool Drive or something.

The part I found most amusing was when Inui tried to say the word tennis. It all came out in beeps. Ryoma looked so totally annoyed! And the way he expressed his annoyance was absolutely adorable!

Haha. Tezuka's annoyance was pretty funny, too. But I'm a completely biased Tezu-fan! ^.^ I was kinda confused why it was beeped out everytime Inui tried to say tennis. Maybe it was because I saw it raw. Idk.
