    His arrogance while playing makes him an appealing character. I think.

    Didn't Tezuka beat him in the anime as well?

    True, very true! XD Somehow, the way he acts doesn't really piss me.. Maybe it's really true that people with the same zodiac sign are compatible. Ryoma's sign is capricorn and so am I, no wonder I never hated him... 0_o

    All I can say is that one reason why I came to love The Prince of Tennis is because of its unique protagonist which is Ryoma. I definitely like his cockiness because he has the talent to back it up. Plus, he really is passionate in the one thing he is good at: tennis.

    I don't like Ryouma because he's like the only Junior High Student who is going to be able to go pro practically within another year because he can't ever seem to lose now that he's "seigaku's pilar" -_-;;;

    Or at least he's trying to...i'm quite sure that Fuji and Tezuka still beat him... or at least I pray every night so that Konomi Takeshi doesn't have the idea of Ryoma taking his place as the Prince...at least not right now...maybe when i'm 30...

    Ah, we really hate it when our friend's are successful, eh? Ryoma especially, even if he's fictional, the fact that he's so successful is the reason we hate him and the fact he points it out doesn't help either

    Well, I won't say I'm a Ryoma fan but I feel it is kinda different that the protagonist is arrogant and cocky because manga that I read such as Slamdunk and even Naruto, the protagonist tends to be at the losing end, a beginner in whatever the sports/ skills is and get teased and stuffs. So it is kinda a refreshing feeling to have the protagonist starting off someone so cocky and arrogant yet highly skilled. =P
    And his matches win, some of it comes from his hard work too, he did not exactly win it effortlessly, at least in the manga it is not. For example, in the manga, his match with sanade. He tries very hard too and was very exhausted yet still did not give up.

    Ryoma is a snarky little bastard.

    And that's why we love him.

    exactly, he wins because he gives it all hes got and he has a wicked ability to evolve, to see what is holding him back and coming up with solutions to win. thats what i like about him so much, he may be cocky and all, but hes got the will and talent to back it up and he doesnt give up until the match is over and done with.
