MiRinHa: I was told this by somebody on the Jpopmusic forums. I was interested to know who Shimatani was playing, and it turned out to be Ryuuzaki and I wanted to kill something O__O;;
omgsoh!! i heard about this too!! heard shoo much good things about de anime and manga... XD gonna go check it out =)
Newbie here!... I have some info on the cast...
The Seigaku cast, except for Ryoma, is made up of the New!Cast members of the Prince Of Tennis Musicals.
Tezuka: Shirota Yuu
Fuji: Aiba Hiroki
Kikumaru: Adachi Osamu
Oishi: Suzuki Hiroki
Momoshiro: Kaji Masaki
(the last three, I haven't bothered to find out their names yet.)
Date Kouji reprises his role as Ohtori Choutarou.
Lots of other members of TeniMyu have cameo appearances, among which are Nagayama Takashi (Old!Cast Kikumaru, appears as Sasabe's friend), Tsuchiya Yuuichi (Old!Cast Oishi, appears as Kite of Higa Chu), Moriyama Eiji (Old!Cast Momoshiro, appears as Sanada), Saitou Takumi (New!Cast Oshitari, can't remember who he is in the movie), and some other people who I can't think of right now. Washio Noboru of *pnish* (a four-man theater troupe of which Tsuchiya and Moriyama are also part of) also appears for a cameo in the movie.
Ryuuzaki Sumire's age was changed for the movie so that instead of being a grandmother as in the anime and manga, she's a year behind Nanjiroh.
Ryuuzaki Sakuno has been replaced by an original character, and she's the younger sister of somebody from a rival school.

Geez, if they keep on changing the story to suit current conditions, that would just create confusion. As it is, the anime already has diversions from the manga.
Yeah, but... Well. If you weren't a PoT fan you wouldn't watch the movie, would you? (Unless you were related to some of the cast members and watch it to show your support.) The writers were presuming that the audience would at least know the original story, and some changes they made were for a smoother story flow. (Ooooh, somebody's been rereading the movie's site a little too repetitively lately...) Anyway, the movie's been shot and released, there's nothing we can do about it but to enjoy the cameo appearances of our favorite TeniMyu actors such as Tuti and Nagayan ^_^ movie.
Of course the anime would be different from the manga. Hardly any manga-based anime stay true to the original storylines of the comic -- of the ones I know, none of them do.

I hope they don't change much. but of course I couldn't be just LIKE de amga/anime. I think I wouldn't be so good, every live action movie needs adaptions (i wonder if you know what I mean). I'm glad there's no Sakuno, I think she's annoying... Oh, juudenkanryou711-kun, you're sure it's not Ann (Tachibana's sister) you're talking about? ^^
My english sucks. I'm sorry.
I'm sure it's not An. The girl is a completely original character for the movie, but she sort of takes on the role of Sakuno. She was watching her brother's matches one day (I think), then she saw Ryoma and was instantly a fangirl.

well, i have a dvd copy of the movie, most of the things they say are understandable if you know some japanese, and i think i've seen it subbed before.
