Well I don't think Whitebeard is their father, but more likely a distant relative or some sort. For example, I remember that when we first see Whitebeard, we also get this 'title square' which says something like "Whitebeard. Edward Newcart."

For all we know, Edward Newcart = Edwar D. Newcart

I think that Whitebeard is in no way Luffy's father.
A) He's a giant
B) Wouldn't Ace tell Luffy if he knew (being second in command and all)
C) Well...theres a reason he been called Whitebeard for a while

If anything I think THe pirate king Roger guy is his father because
A) similiar middle/last names, cant remember which
B) Black hair (lol whitebeard) and funky personality
C) Similiar personalities (in anime)
