Thread: Character flaws of Strawhats

Being imperfect is a good thing, because it means you have room to grow.

Tell me what you think about this:

Luffy: flaw is the sin gluttony. Pursues fun and food. Not a responsible person.

Zoro: flaw is the sin sloth. Sleeps whenever not fighting, eating, training, or getting lost. Apathetic attitude.

Nami: flaw is the sin greed. Loves money and tangerines. Steals from pirates, steals from crewmates, blackmails crewmates, steals keys from everyone.

Sanji: flaw is the sin lust. Hits on girls. Crazy horny perverted fanboy of Nami and Robin and every hot babe in the world.

Ussop: flaw is the sin pride. Blatantly lies his ass off just for the hell of it. Thinks of himself as special and awesome. Attention seeker.

Robin: flaw is the sin envy. Always sitting quietly in a isolated area reading or watching people. Easily betrays crewmates.

Franky: flaw is the sin wrath. Short bad temper. Loud, obnoxious and a troublemaker.

Chopper: flaw is naiveness. Extraordinarily gullible. Absent-minded. Error-prone.

Commence discussion.

Her life is full of betrayals, so naturally she doesn't want to open up. She keeps her suffering to herself until she breaks down. Remember her reaction to Luffy's words after she tells her story?

With the exceptions of pairing most of the crew with the Seven Deadly Sins, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head for most of the Strawhat Crew and Franky. Zoro and Robin were way off mark though. Zoro's may sleep a lot, but he's certainly not lazy. He'd be a better example of Wrath though. And while Robin is distant (that'll probably change after the CP9 arc) and untrustful (again, it'll change), she's certainly not envious. Not to me, anyways. Chopper fits more under the Envy category. To continue the 7 Sin track though:

Zoro: Wrath
Usopp: Sloth (he doesn't do anything until something's done to him/threatens his life)
Luffy: Pride (in his mind, he deserves the title of Pirate King)
Chopper: Envy (wants the acceptance that everyone other than him usually gets)

Your arguement makes sense.
Zoro can be ruthlessly violent to his enemies. Robin is distant and not necessarily envious but she keeps her emotions to herself so I have a hard time figuring out her flaws. Ussop is kind of lazy, but he's not apathetic. Luffy definitely thinks of himself none other than king. Chopper wants to be accepted, but doesn't envy have to do with cynicism?

The sins are more like colors of a rainbow than something discrete. They're hard to tell apart sometimes.

Yeah, I initially just wanted to compare the Strawhats to the seven deadly sins because there was a correlation. Ussop's cowardice is his true flaw although he's really proud (he calls himself Captain Ussop and Sogeking because he believes he's awesome). Robin's flaw wasn't her ambition, but her desire for acceptance. She became an archaeologist because she wanted nakama. It just so happened that she was the perfect person for archaeology. Zoro's real flaw is ignorance, which is due to sloth. That's why he's always lost, and never changes his habits. It can be called manliness, but men are generally slobs.

The most flawed character is Luffy, so that's why he needs nakama. However, because of his flaws and how he copes with them, he's the strongest character.

Anyway, I like Captain Planet myself, that's one of the reason's it's in my sig.

Well I think Chopper did used to envy people like Robin, Zoro and Luffy for being so brave and thats when we underwent his transformation in the Skypeia arc when he talked about him finally becoming a pirate after defeating Gedatsu.

AH! That's it! We forgot the newly added Eigth Deadly Sin. The sin of being a furry. Yay, now chopper has one.

i feel really stupid for this but i just realized ussop's nose and personality is kinda and allusion to pinnoccio(sp?) lies and wants to be a real man/real boy

naivety is not a sin. it's a gift...
