if sea stones are as hard as diamond, how the heck do you make shackles out of them?... seems kinda dumb. Maybe they can be melted? or maybe someone with a fruit... who knows.. maybe he's just exaggerating.

I'd like to add that there is a difference between steel and steel. Steel can be everything from low-grade crap to phenomenally strong alloys. As an example, a sheet of industrial steel that is as thick as a credit card can stop magnum bullets.

As the powers of a devil fruit user grow as he masters the fruit, I think we can assume that Mr.1 simply has learned to transform his body into exceptionally hard steel. Therefore it's no surprise that Zoro could break swords that are probably made of lower-grade steel.

We do use lasers to cut diamonds. High-powered lasers.

We also use cutting tools, but they are not power tools :P

The cutting tools are coated with diamond shards so they're able to cut diamond. The problem with this is that the tools get worn out very easily and need to be replaced often.

Thus, we use lasers a lot more often to cut diamond. (we use lasers to cut hard metals like steel and titanium too.)
