I'm tryin to think of it in terms of how hes going to face up to hawk eyes. Sure we dont know much about him, but we know the level of destruction he can cause.

He chopped an entire ship in half in the sanji-getting-arc. Zoro is already at the level of chopping big things in two so how far does he have to go?

I dont think strength is the question anymore, its the skill. When hawk eyes layed the whoopin on zoro with that puny scalpel, thats what I got out of it.

ps. sheild of blades? .... sounds cool

I personally do not think that Zoro will learn the CP9 move of cutting thru kicks becuase then, Zoro's 3swords will become almost meaningless, and besides, he has been branded as a 3sword fighter, not a 5-sword one.

Also, am i the only one who is NOT satisfied with Zoro's development? I mean besides the "breath" technique that allows him to cut thru steel, I just cant seem to track Zoro's improved skills. B4, Zoro was the only one who really fit that stereotypical role of a hero training hard and improving, because while the rest of the Straw Hats were dozing off and magically growing stronger, you could actually see Zoro training. But now, all he seems to do is make up new moves, and I cant tell which one is better than the other one, what the advantage/disadvantage a particular move has over another one, etc. I mean , cmon, does anyone know whether or not that "bull" move Zoro used against Mihawk is weaker/stronger than the corny "sword is bending" move that was used agaisnt the WG marines?

But you do notice that zoro's qualities are getting developed >_>
I mean come on, go through one door, and the next panel shows him coming out of the door next to the one he went through.
He seems to have become more blood thirsty like a devil (concerning his new moves)
And instead of pure power, he's refining his techniques, back then at the start he could barely use 1/2 sword techniques and needed all 3 swords to block one attack. While in the new chapters you see him use 1 sword to block 2, which allows him a greater attack strategy >_>

yea, zoro is getting stronger, and about his techniques, i dont think they are stronger or better than the others, they just have different uses, like the sword bending, maybe its for delusion, and some attacks he does, like the santoryu poundo-hoo is for distance, etc etc :P

and the cursed sword he has, thats what makes him thrist for blood and battle, and i think it was a legendary sword or something to :P

Zoro's swords are all elite swords: two family heirlooms, and a cursed sword.

Zoro's getting better by having all his abilities enhanced. After enhancing abilities, he then creates new techniques, and upgrades old ones. Everyone does the same thing, except non-major characters and villains.

They grow stronger like rp game characters, gaining exp and leveling up.

Well in my opinion i really don't think we have enough conclusive evidence to find out how he gets better. My guess is that it has to do something with CP 9 member's (i can't remember his name) DF ability that we still don't know yet.

i think zoro might get a devil fruit power but i dont want him to get one i think that it would be a better fight against hawk eyes if he didnt have one, plus he has his crazy swords
    but thats just my opinion
