Default name of *THE* island (my series defining theory)

How much you want to bet the name of the island that the old archeologist was about to say before he was shot is....
(scroll down, unless you don't want a possible spoiler)

    ...RIO

and Gol D. Rogers one piece is the Rio poneglyph with the true history on it that Robin's been searching for... and Roger sacrificed himself to draw attention so that a force (pirates) would defy the world government to find this "one piece" and be able to expose the true history to the world.
Actually I also believe that Roger is Luffy's gradfather, the grandfather Aokiji mentioned being troublesome, but maybe Roger couldn't even beat Aokiji, and so his death wasn't really a sacrifice for him, but his last words were for the same purpose as stated before. Wealth, power, fame? He says he had this, which may make you think that one piece is wealth, power, and the fame that comes with it, but maybe he said that also just to get pirates to think that's what they're going after.

If it ends up that the name of the island is not Rio, then it probably begins with the letter D.

I think he meant the name of the Nation / lost civilization. And I see why he figured that, his logic is definitely sound. It's a good name, but seems too short to be the name of a civilization.
Dear cousin choppitychop89, you were a good relative, though I hardly knew ye.

I'm to think the true history isn't just the one Rio Poneglyph. I'm to think that it's separated. Maybe it's written down in various places, which is why Gol traveled.

He got too close to the truth and was captured for it. But the fact that he was going out on a dream maybe why the wealth, fame, and power didn't really interest him.

I honestly don't think it sounds very good for a name either, but that could be the American viewpoint of the word (makes me think of rivers or the 80's), and that's if Rio is the actual translation of whatever was said in the manga/anime.

Rio Bec is also the name of the site of a ancient mayan civilization. I do believe Oda does infuse One Piece with actual history (at least bases some elements of OP off actual history). So you never know. I think it's very possible that it's Rio, or Rio something.

verry verrry well developed and sound theory....dont know that im ready to believe in it.

and i like to think that oda parodies history. like the buster call could be the equvilant of the atomic bomb or something.

Interesting theory, but Raftel(or Rough Tale, my finnish translated volume says Raftel, but I mean the last island of Grand Line) doesn't quite fit into it. But I'm starting to believe that the destroyed civilization is indeed Rio, or starts with Rio. The "Will of D" may have something to do with the Rio Poneglyph too, but I doubt it's all there is to it.
