Oh that's good thinking. By pointing out that no one has ever been known to have planted a devil fruit, you've helped validate the theory that devil fruit don't occur in the same way regular fruit do, because if they did people could farm them. I guess it has to be a mutation that won't reproduce.
However it's still possible that someone might show up with a tree in the future, so nothing is guaranteed. But it's always good to line up speculation with facts.
