Timechart for OP
I've been thinking about how long has Luffy been out at sea. Best way to do this would be to go through every chapter, and count the days and nights as you see them. The reason is that I'm interested (as I'm sure you are too) about how much the crew has grown in how long.

Anyone interested in trying this? Maybe do it little by little... by arcs, or certain events, etc..

=)

It would be hard to count that since sea faring could take days to weeks.

thatz right, eventhough you count all the day and night on every chapter it doesn't guarantee the correct calculation. not to mention any other event (like additional event in anime that not appear on manga)

anime doesn't count... EVER! =P

but ya, i see what you mean with the sea... altho, those can just be varibles, lol. say something like...

luffy leaves (1 day)
possibility of more then 1 day at sea (x days)
meets coby (1 day)
possibility of more then 1 day at sea (x days)
meets zoro (1 day)
etc etc.

you know, doesn't have to be just like that, but more or less. just taking time of the concrete parts is fine, and anytime they're at sea and it looks like there could be a break, toss in an 'x'. =P

Then it would become rather inaccurate. Even travelling through the desert probably took a few days.

Nah, it was a good try. You can still count the days if you've got that much free time...

And not even the seasons are reliable, thanks to Grand Line microclimas :)
For what I heard, the whole story is still under one year of "real" time, since every time Gold Roger's execution is mentioned, it's 22 years ago.
