I've been re-reading One Piece, and in some of the chapters their ship is referred to as S.S. Forward; I always thought it was Going Merry. Is there an explaination for this?

I told him once or twice; to stop playin' cards, and shootin' dice.... he's in the jailhouse now
SS forward? never heard :S
the only thing that i know is that they call merry in the german version "flying lamb" -_-'
Is it in random chapters that you get this? It could be a translator's preference.

It is reffered to the SS Forward a couple of times in some of the chapters of volume 25 of the manga.
Here it is reffered to as the going merry http://www.mangaviewer.com/main.php?...=chapter227_02
And here as the SS Forward http://www.mangaviewer.com/main.php?...=chapter235_04
They called it "SS Forward" once it got wings. The moment the wings were gone (When that lil spirit guy fixed it to not having wings anymore), they reverted to calling it "Going Merry" again. I just read the whole story again recently and noticed they only called it SS Forward in the Sky Piea Arc and mostly during the time when they were on Sky Island.

Oh, thanks. Makes a lot of sense now. That and I was listening to "Caravel Farewell".Originally Posted by YBMC
