Is that from the fillers? Cuz if it is, then it doesn't count.

That was a filler, if I'm not mistaken. Don't remember that happening in the manga

And for the 5 elders, I also believe that most of them aren't good fighters, but if one or another is good at fighting it would help them, I think

And someone said something about freedom is everything, I believe total freedom leads to anarchy, but power can lead to dictatory(sp?). Well, can't say that just freedom is all that matter.

While World Government comprises 160 countries, it's nowhere said that it must be the same countries all the time - in 800 years, I'd expect significant evolution.
The thing I'd like to know is to what extent the WG is still "The Enemy" from 800 years ago. Are the same people in charge since then? If not, did the WG's base somehow change, for better or worse? (after all, every country has some atrocities in its past)

    Their talking about another poneglyph.

To be on topic, I'm pretty sure World Government is just pretty much another band of pirates that subliminally hypnotize their men to believing they are doing good.

The World Government is just a name for pirates with thousands of fleets, claiming righteousness for their own selfish deeds. There maybe a few exceptions for those who really thought they're doing the right thing, but the Marines are generally rotten. Much like most of the politicians today.
