    Default Cyrano De Bergerac

During my time here, I heard many theories about Ussop being based on pinochio. But besides the nose part, what part of him is like pinochio?

SO I stumbled upon a play one day called CYRANO DE BERGERAC, which I believe the character ussop was based on.

First off, they both have hidously long noses.

Cyrano lied to his beloved to make her happy. He helped a handsome young man write love letters so that she would fall in love with the man, while Cyrano loved the girl himself

Ussop lied to to make the girl in his village happy

THey are both expert fighters Cyrano is an expert swordsman while ussop is an elite sharpshooter

Lastly, the most important similarity is that while Cyrano was brave on the battlefield, he was insecure inside, and didn't tell his loved one his feelings until on his deathbed

Ussop is a coward on the battlefield who runs rather than fights but always says what's on his mind and rather confidently. THusly, ussop never lost a battle of wills

    Mysterious, no?

    Nice analogy.

I stumble myself to in Cyrano a few years ago, so i know a little bit about the history.
If you chase two rabbits, you lose them both.

Heh. I forgot there's Cyrano. If you didnt mention it, I'd still be comparing Ussop to Pinocchio.

    *Not serious on*

But.....pinoccio also has the long nose.
And the same lame lying skills. Lysopp isn't good at it, while Pinoccio simly can't lie. Because you see that he is lying when his nose is growing.
So both of their lies are discovered very easy.

Also Lysopp wants to be a true (brave) man, while Pinoccio wants to be a true boy, so their dreams match up too.

And for fighting Skills. We've never seen Pinoccio fight. So e don't know anything about this fact.

You see? You shouldn't count Pinoccio out that easily

    *not serious off*

But is it not wayne which Character the blueprint for Lysopp was?
There doesn't have to be one. He could be a mix from various Characters.

And at last. He is neither Pinoccio nor C. de B.
He is Lysopp. Nothing more, nothing less

I do like this theory. But perhaps Oda is fashioning his own character with no basis? This is also a possibility?
Dear cousin choppitychop89, you were a good relative, though I hardly knew ye.

If Luffy is a monkey, Zoro a shark, and Usoopu Cyrano (or pinoccio) then what is Nami and Sanji?

    why zoro a shark ??
i've always seen him as zorro (the one with the black cape)

and to add to the questions : what is Portgas D Ace ?? someone mentionned him as Portuguese D Ace... bad translation ? or is he inspired by a portuguese man ??

Zorro a shark? Do you mistake him for Arlong. He was the Shark.

Also i don't see the connection between Ruffy and a monkey. Apart from his name, of course.

With ace, i can't tell. Here the names are a lot different from the ones the Chars have in America.

    Puma D Ace
    Monkey D Ruffy
    Lorenor Zorro
    Enel

And i have to say i like these ones better. i mean luffy? rorenor?

But i guess that's just how they translate the names different in each country
