one piece and merman

I was just thinking........since merman actually live under the sea, why don't they just swim right across the grand line to the last island where one piece is hidden?? that make sense don't you think?? they can just walk along the bottom of the sea or swim across, fish don't need direction, they know where they're going....and arlong is a greedy bastard, he should've realised this great idea long ago........

ISn't there seaking on the way and ocean current? PLus some may not be strong enuf like Arlong.

not really.....coz, following your logic, humans too will face the seaking and even worse condition, for example, unknown weather ie suddenly changed to very cold or very hot, they just dont know how long for the lock post to get "locked", or what island they will travel to, unknown enemies etc etc, so why bother chasing the One piece?? fish on the other hand doesn't have those problems, besides, they can talk to each other anyway, so they don't always have to fight the seaking

they don't do it because it's to damn far and dangerous to do without a ship. plus they can't just swim to the last island without first encountering the second to last island, letting their log reset, the third to last island, the fourth to last and so on. They face the same restrictions as the ships except they're a lot more vunerable.

no....those merman don't need lockpost, so they should get there without a hassle, besides, isn't arlong from grandline?? you may say..."how do they know which island is the last island?" well.. as I said....they can talk to each other, so they should just ask...simple....

The true reason is because it would be a bad ending to One Piece. Now being the NOOB that I am I will tell you some realistic reasons why he couldn't do it. First, while whales have some sort of ability to tell where they are going, most fish don't (and whales are mammals) have this ability. Also, those fish that do have the ability, base supposedly base it off of currnts, sun positioning, temperature, etc. The reason he could not walk across the bottom of the acean is because at the bottom of the ocean it is pitch black with no sunlight and no current whatsoever. Think of it like the moon but with small areas of life. There is also next to no oxygen and the unbelievable pressure is so unbelievable that I forget how unbelievably strong it is (but its strong, I know its way more than 150 time Earths normal gravity). The only creatures living down there live off of methane and hydrogen sulfide. As far as swimming there goes, besides sea kings, storms have far more power than people realize until they are actually in one. A large storm on the Grand Line could easily reach down 100 feet and batter you into oblivion. The distance isn't really an issue, however, seeing as tuna swim constantly their whole lives and can turn off half their brain to conserve energy (and in my opinion their sanity as well) the feat of swimming there would be possible.

This information has no purpose it is just coming from a bored kid at home looking for an excuse not to go to bed. It is also meant for those who would like to learn something about the ocean if that interests anyone.

Hmmm... what if the island is not known to even Merman? I mean as in the location.

Look, Ol' Whitebeard and Reddo Shanks :lol: have been at Grandline for so much longer and it seems as though they haven't reached the last island. (Can't remember the name- Latveru or something) There must be something special about the island. Although after reading the latest chapter about the kingdom (of D?). I'm guessing the island was where the kingdom was situated centuries ago.

Don't forget MErman can get tire. Plus there must be more unknown danger to us in the Grandline. Also the air preasure of the water might be different in that island. Therefore Merman can't swim there. BUt it's just my theory.

This is indeed one stupid ass thoery you got there buddy. They're merman not super merman, they do get tired. And what if they're not interested in such a thing. But still saying they could just swim there is like saying neo0conker said. I can walk but you'll never catch me walking to Canada from where I'm at.

There are sea kings all over the calm belt. Those things can swallow an aircraft carrier whole, what chances do mermen have of traveling across the belt? The mermen have superhuman strength, but it isn't omnipotent godlike strength that can move continents and change sea currents.
