I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

The same could be said for you, too. It was part of the discussion, but it was straying slightly off topic.

Why he came to this understanding is because he was dying and his body understood that it needs to pull out all its stops (allow unrestricted potential) to survive. How he came to this realization is a big but realistic mystery.
Can anyone please give a link to information about this phenomenon? (although there probably isn't much info since current neurological research cannot adequately describe the subconscious mind)
i dont understand why anyone would take this seriously!
its just a story. he didnt base this on any real phenomena! he just thought it would sound cool. yeah, it does sound cool. this is just like when people on the naruto section tried to explain what chakra is, the naruto chakra is way diffrent from what was considered real chakra. no one will be able to explain it because its fake. ill take this back once someone cuts a boulder in half. until then, be satisfied with he heard rocks breathing.
Well.. in life, there is something called a sweet spot, where if you use it at that point, it is most effective
there is also something completely different, a weaker spot.. or someone can go invent a better name for that... but... its basically a spot where it is weaker than other places...
so zoro probably knows how to locate that spot and cut it in a specific fashion so it would be most effective and easiest to cut... because he can hear the metal breathe
or you could just go with the corny explanation of ... zoro is cool.. and he pwns... and he wins : ) or something other reason
You are right that the swords cutting boulders in half is false. However, within every tall tale there is some truth. People really do push their limits in desperate situations.

He just unleashes his Kaze no kizu attack! Simple? No?

the real question is how did mihawk cut metal!?!? =P
