imo Luffy and Roronoa Zolo sounds the best

saying Roronoa Zoro makes me think of that movie "The mask of Zorro"

yea i thought so too when i first read the name "Zoro"

when i first read One Piece , i read the official English First Volume and it was "Monkey D. Luffy" and "Roronoa Zolo"

but the character of Zorro and Roronoa are too different......thank god for that

Uhhhh, why would the extremely-faithful [other than filler] Toei adaptation incorrectly name the protagonist as "Luffy", if his name were "Ruffy"? Jeeze, this is like those stupid "Aerieth" and "Aeries" arguments from the 90's. There's no "th" sound or "L" sounds in the Japanese language, so verbal exceptions must be made. Hell, at least they take the time to say "Luffy" in the anime, as opposed to being lazy and saying "Ruffy".

btw, i'd also like to say, in japanese the ru/lu is usually translated as lu, whereas ro/lo is USUALLY translated as ro, hence:

    Monkey D Luffy
    Lugia (pokemon >.<)
    Lucchi (CP9 dude)

    Roronoa Zoro
    Nico Robin

There are a couple of exceptions for obvious reasons, such as:

    Long Island
