I have a feeling that Luffy's powerup will have some flashback where it shows him paying attention in school, or some B.S. like that where he learns about rubber...

How I understood it,The "jet" moves are nothing else than classic gomu-gomu moves with speed of soru...

that's about supersaiya idea :P except jets power can be contain....it does give luffy insane speed and strength----it also reply to the law of physics about rubber and pressure~

I'm not thinking so, because if you look, every time he uses a jet move, there's two impacts, one in mid air, and one where he hits them. I can't think of a single reason for the second impact unless he's not actually punching them, but sending shockwaves of compressed air at them, more than likely at supersonic speed. I'll agree he uses Soru, but I'm betting only to create the speed needed for the impact.

Plus, I wouldn't think Luffy would bother having an entire "Second Gear" devoted to him just increasing his punches speed.

Maybe Luffy has Logia capabilities, and therefore, he can harness the air pressure around him as a spring-like tension. That way, he could move really quickly, and that would explain why he was pushing down on his legs (To force air pressure from his legs out of his mouth). This way, when the pressure is released, he feels *Light as air*

Maybe he is moving his punches so fast that it is compressing the steam into a dense projectile. While thats basically impossible One Piece isn't exactly known for following the laws of physics. It also looks like second gear increases the strain on his body greatly and I'm still debating as to whether it is considered a technique in regards to the projectiles that he seems to be shooting or a temporary power-up with an added side effect.

As far as soru goes, I believe that this will be how they move from now on. I'm also going to be so full of myself to believe that Zoro and Sanji will both be able to use soru and they will learn it in this arc. After all, when Zoro isn't sleeping he's training and the six superhuman forms are gained through training. I also think that we'll be seeing a lot more people who can use soru as the story progresses. Also I don't think that Luffy will use the rumored third gear to achieve new forms of the six super-human forms. I think that he may gain some more of the forms due to going into third gear but I don't think that that will be the primary result. Also if you think about it, some of the forms are kind of useless, I mean stabbing someone with just your finger is cool but it just doesn't seem like Luffy, Sanji, or Zoro would use that technique much.

Well there's my opinions on the matter, but then again they don't really matter since I'm not writing the manga, its just fun to speculate.
Lol... steam projectile? You should read more carefully and think about what you see. Luffy's not firing anything... he just moves really fast. It looks like he hit Blueno from far away but he actually ran infront of Blueno and hit him flying. And it is impossible to fire "steam", maybe compress air and create a huge blast but not in the way you described. And the shigan (the "finger stabbing thing") is by no means useless. If you can punch holes with someone using a finger, what do you think you could do with a whole fist? The use of shigan CP9 has demonstrated with the finger so far is probably just a mockery of what they can really achieve. And as for using it, Sanji could easily use that technique in his kicks and turn it into something similar to No. Two's.
I'm not sure if shigan would work like that. what I think shigan is, is being able to use maximum amount of force on a specific part of your body such as the finger. Normally with us it would just cause the bone in the finger to shatter but with CP9 they've trained it so that they can with stand the extreme counter forces.
What I'm trying to say is like how a person can sleep on a bed of nails. If they were to apply shigan with a larger object such as a foot or fist they force would be distributed over a greater space thus not piercing them like a finger would. Although I bet it would still really hurt.
