And thats another reason to like Luffy- you never know what he'll do or say. If it was Naruto, it would probably be like "dont die, we love you, you have friends, we will cry" and in Bleach "idiot, you cant die becouse I came to save you!".

Dont misunderstand- I like both Naruto and Bleach, but One piece is just... way better in terms of ...hmm... negotiations

never say any manga with romance would suck, just say OP is super great b/c it has no romance. so the main character doesnt have this dumb idiotic weakness that the enemy countlessly try to get him by attacking his "love" one...then the main character will be like...NOOOOO, i'll save u with my life!! ridiculous...

xD.... well, Sanji did have that weakness at first with Bon-chan, of course, the real Nami wasn't about to die, but, I bet Sanji would've yelled something like that is she was beeing held hostage or something in that situation... but, it's true, having such a weakness really sucks... if Zoro or Luffy had a loved one to protect it would reaaaaally be troublesome and we wouldn't be able to see them really in action ever again.. it's cool just to be a great pirate and not caring about anything else, but slashing, kicking or punching the enemy..

Romance; it is a complex concept, but in short it is the emphasis on the emotional relationship between two or more characters, or between a character and an idea.

    Dictionary.com's definition (one entry)
    -----------------------------------------------------
    n.
    1.
    1. A love affair.
    2. Ardent emotional attachment or involvement between people; love: They kept the romance alive in their marriage for 35 years.
    3. A strong, sometimes short-lived attachment, fascination, or enthusiasm for something: a childhood romance with the sea.
    2. A mysterious or fascinating quality or appeal, as of something adventurous, heroic, or strangely beautiful: “These fine old guns often have a romance clinging to them” (Richard Jeffries).
    3.
    1. A long medieval narrative in prose or verse that tells of the adventures and heroic exploits of chivalric heroes: an Arthurian romance.
    2. A long fictitious tale of heroes and extraordinary or mysterious events, usually set in a distant time or place.
    3. The class of literature constituted by such tales.
    4.
    1. An artistic work, such as a novel, story, or film, that deals with sexual love, especially in an idealized form.
    2. The class or style of such works.
    5. A fictitiously embellished account or explanation: We have been given speculation and romance instead of the facts.
    6. Music. A lyrical, tender, usually sentimental song or short instrumental piece.
    7. Romance The Romance languages.
    adj.

Romance Of, relating to, or being any of the languages that developed from Latin, including Italian, French, Portuguese, Romanian, and Spanish.

    v. ro·manced, ro·manc·ing, ro·manc·es (r-mns)
    v. intr.

    1. To invent, write, or tell romances.
    2. To think or behave in a romantic manner.

    v. tr. Informal

    1. To make love to; court or woo.
    2. To have a love affair with.
    ----------------------------------------------------
Hmm... This is interesting. According to the online dictionary, there isn't a concrete definition. Thus, one can say that there is no romance (no lovey dovey stuff), but one can also say there is A LOT of romance (Luffy and his adventures, basically all of One Piece).
I think One Piece can be considered a "manly" romance story. (no kissy, lots of battle)
