Thread: Why luffy doesn't kill his enemies

I was wondering this question when a friend gave me the answer Oda himself actually answers this in a special Q&A section at the end of the 4th volume

Q: How come Luffy never kills his enemies?

Oda: HMMM! thats a very good question, First I have to announce that morgan is still alive, he's cureently in jail placed there by his former subordinates.
Why does luffy never kill his enemies? Because in that era, everyone uses there lives to fight for there dreams when there dream has been shattered its the same as losing a fight and as painful as death. I believe for a pirate not to kill an enemy is giving them a 2nd chance to acomplish there dream.

(I paraphrased the question since it asked alot of questions that we already knew such as about morgan and buggy)

because OP is still a manga for kids

because a manga don't need to have everyone killed to be interesting...

When I think about it,Luffy isnt merciful,but actually pretty mean.
I mean,shattering the dream of the enemy,is more painful and tormenting then dead(as Oda said).And when Luffy dont kill them(and end their pain and agony),he basicaly just prolong their suffering to unknown extend...
(dont take it too serously though)

but luffy doesn't kill anyone and everyone tries to kill him. If he killed all of his enemies, luffy'd have less people out trying to kill him

i think its because his idol never killed any body and it makes him a more lovable character.

not to mention that he doesn't need to kill. i fhe killed everyone of his enemies who would tell stories about Luffy?
leave them alive to tell the tale of the King of Pirates.

y u ask well he uses his fist but its still a killing devise well.... i guess at the end of the battle hes just 2 tired to fight anylonger so he just leaves them their with the fact that they got beat by a 16 year old kid.

I don't think that all of this is correct. I think Arlong and crocodile are dead. I didn't see them in the manga or in the anime after they fought with Luffy. If u know something about them I don't know tell me. Bye.
