i c this thread died out a while ago, but i was thinking something about the 3rd movie just now. in the end, that kid is finally reunited with his parents but chooses 2 go with whatshisface, the thief? n they didn't show how his parents responded 2 that either. isn't that unfair? i mean imagine how they must've felt, they had 2 give their kid away cos they didn't want him 2 live under tyranny. now that their island is peaceful again, they get reunited with their 10 or 11 year old son only 2 get rejected by him so he can live with a sea thief? n the ending scene was made out 2 b such a positive n happy ending. what kind of message r they conveying 2 the audience? what would unicef do?

The only movie i've seen was the latest one where they go to "pirate island"?

This movie was definitely out there. My friends and i suspected that the movie was definitely not by Oda.. and very drugged up. I recommend it to anyone who is into surrealism and shrooms.

J-pop fan with a weakness for manga.

You mean the 6th one, "Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island"?

I agree with you, the movie wasn't by Oda and it shouldn't. Toei Animation(?) does the animation for the series, movies, and specials, right?
Actually, I've said this before...but it does remind me of Samurai Champloo, at least the animation. And what is a "shroom"?

I just read the first post and skipped to the last to reply, anyway I've watched the first 5 movies I find them all very entertaining, my favorites being the 2nd and th 4th. The thing is, the movies and fillers while not as entertaining as the the ones that following the manga are still highly entertaining, I find them to be much higher qualitly then other series fillers -coughNARUTOcough- plus they're smart in how they go about it, filling it in the middle of the story instead of waiting till they catch up.

Anyway I'm sure you're enjoy all of them movies they're great.
