Thread: Is It O.K that no one dies in OP?

Don't everyone forget the death we were just shown, now. The pirate at the slave auction that bit off his own tongue. Not to mention the bullet-head-interaction in chapter 1.

But still, that's minor and very far between.

Speaking of key characters, how about Gold Roger being executed and started the pirate era?

It's no big deal but the potential for death makes these massive grand battles more meaningful, knowing that the opponent could possibly get killed. Not as much is on the line if you know everyone will be fine and giddy right afterwards. Even though it has a younger audience, why shelter kids from a natural consequence of fighting? If you beat the hell out of people all the time like the SH's do, people are going to get maimed/crippled/die.

well i would hope for more "real" death on the side of the bad guys.

the good guys in one piece die from time to time for tragedy anddramatic reasons, but the bad guys allways survive and get their coverstory.

Oda does have an aversion to explicitly killing off his villains. However, I can't see how this in itself does add or detract to the story. More blood and death =/= better story.

i think that to show some dying in this series may have major ramifications on the characters,even if that character is not close to them. the author(oda) may not want to do thid because it may cange his manga

First of all the guy that bit his toungue is still alive.
The only times that the "No one dies in OP(except in flashbacks)" thing bothered me was with Pell and the CP9 members, Blueno coulnd save everyone,i think lucci fell in the ocean and idk how he could find Kumadori. PLus i think Kaku should have died after Zoro's attack

the only thing that might cause death from that battle is from dying from the blood loss.
he didn't die when he fought mihawk too.why should others die?
I wanna hear others opinion about this.
will ace die?
