I want to mention that Camie eating a DF seems backwards and counter productive...well with Oda you never know but still...

I'd like to see Nami or Usopp eating a DF though, that would be neat.

I want to fix something : Robin joined the crew at the end of Crocodile's arc...period ! Arguing that is like saying that Usop joined the crew at the end of the cp9 arc.

I want to see Camie as the new crew member but I guess I am dreaming. Actually I want a chick as the next crew member . That would equilibrate the dudes/chicks ratio and make Sanji happy ^^

I don't really think Camie will be the new member. She isn't strong in fights. Besides, there may be some other beautiful and stronger mermaids in the mermaid island.

Perhaps the new member will be one of the fastest swimmer in the island. Straw Hats need a good swimmer that can help the crew members since half of the crew (Luffy, Chopper, Robin, Brook) are Devil Fruit users.

He/she may be able to fight using water (that would be cool!!!)

She joined in the cp9 arc... Oda has a tendency to introduce the youth/history of the character before making them join. Good example of that would be Nami and now Robin.

*has a tendency* ...that's the most ridiculous thing I have ever read...

Zorro didnt have his history revealed for a while as far as I know and even if it was the case it wouldnt mean shit.

Nico Robin joined the crew once Luffy saved her just after beating Crocodile. That's a fact, not speculations. The cp9 arc just created stronger ties between Nico Robin and the rest of the crew that's all. Same goes for Nami, She joined the crew on buggy's mini arc (as I remember), the Arlong thingy just made it permanent. When Luffy says somebody is his nakama, you should consider that person as part of the crew whether that person likes it or not .

I agree. Robin joined at the end of the crocodile arc. Because she didn't play the crew and faked to be a part of them.
You can see that because she left them behind in the CP9 arc because she cared so much about them and wanted to keep them safe. That shows that she was a true SH by that time.

Nami is much more questionable. She joined at the end of the Buggy mini arc, but she only pretended to do so.
Sure, she was having a good time with them, liked them and wanted to stay, but she betrayed and left them of her own free will.
There were of course reasons to do it, but still.
And than she joined at the end of the Arlong arc. But even in her case I'd say she joined at the Buggy arc.

So you should forget about Robin and discuss Nami's case (although thats unnecessary too)

@ Feanor & zelrik : I kinda know what you mean, but you are actually wrong
they officially join when Oda says they do (e.g the 3rd and the 7th person IIRC and so on)

You don't get it... at first he sort of forces em... but in ALL cases he helps them in some major way which makes them finally decide to join him. He saved Zorros life so he can fulfill his dream of being the greatest swordsman, Nami got her town freed, Sanji joined when luffy beat Krieg and saved the Baratie etc. Now if you consider way back Robin just says that he is responsible for her because he saved her life when she wanted to die. but she officially joines at cp9 when she proclaims that she actually wants to live, stay with them and sail the seas with the rest of the crew.

Lemme get this straight... How is Robins case any different than Namis? They both left them, the crew in both cases thought they were betrayed, they were both rescued by the rest of the crew and decided to join. Robin did indeed think of herself as one of them, but if you think back once Aokiji came she knew she won't be able to stay because it would endanger the Strawhats.

Yes, they both left, the crew thought in both cases they were betrayed and rescued them/brought them back to the crew.
But the reasons why they left are different.
Robin left in order to keep the crew save.
Nami did no such thing. She just left them like she had planned to from the beginning.
Like I said she had good reasons like Robin did (raising money to save her island), but they didn't include the crew.

It's a minor difference, but a difference nevertheless.
Just like how they initially came to be in the crew. Robin probably thought it would only be temporary (like all the crew's she was involved in before), but she wanted to join.
Nami on the other hand only pretended to join.

Did Oda actually say something? I didnt hear anything... a good reference is not only welcomed but required here.

Again what I am saying is very simple to understand, I am looking a Nami between the Buggy and Arlong arc...what I am seeing, she is with the crew doing stuff : therefore part of the crew. Imagine she died before Arlong's arc..then who can tell hu? For Robin, it's even stronger than that as she didnt expect to meet the cp9.

PS : The flashbacks mean nothing to me about being part of the crew or not. They are just flashbacks...

As I see it, they were formally crew members since the beginning, but they were personally half assed about it. It is only after the Arlong and the cp9 fights that they truely became part of the crew.
