Agreed. While there are quite a few "freaks" in the Strawhat crew already, they at least look semi-human eg Chopper. Chopper can also pass as a small pet. But Brooke is a walking skeleton...

Ninth member. Hmmm. I don't think it should be a mermaid at all. Mermaids have fish tails, so since most of - practically all of - the battles are on land, she'll have trouble moving. A mermaid ally for the Merman Island arc, maybe.

A possible position would be... scout? Is there even such a thing?

She will need a DF to be able to fight correctly on the ground though, even if mermaids can walk (cf Kokoro)

I don't think there'll ever be more than 10 members.
10 strong members is enough, so they don't need a second ship and a lot of small fry.
They'll always only help them out temporarily and than be left behind as friends.

Having only a small crew is more personal and more fun.

I think this is the final member, they have all the crewmen they wanted in the beginning so this will be the final roster, until someone dies.

But a mermaid with a DF would be kind of ironic, wouldn't it? A fish-like human who can swim extremely well and is most at home in the water... who can't swim. Hahaha.

But yeah I forgot about Kokoro. That would work, but she had better be way hotter!

We don't need another DF user so soon. We just got Brook which is the 4th Df user in the crew out of around 10 if you count Vivi.

The thing is, a mermaid for a nakama is a chance. When I read about Sky Island I was confident that Viper would be a nakama, and I was wrong. You can't be 100% sure who'll become a nakama, unless Luffy and the other member accepts it.

It's the first character who made me rofl in One Piece... before the crew was funny, now it's absolutely insane!

And about how many will be in the crew, i'll stick with Luffy initial opinion: "10 or so nakama will be fine"

So we have...

Luffy - captain
Zorro - vicecaptain (most likely)
Sanji - cook
Chopper - doctor
Nami - navigator
Ussop - canoneer
Robin - archeologist
Franky - engineer
Brook - musician

I cant think of anything that they still need.

Maybe something crazy like a scientist, or a gardener for Namis trees, or a fishman who cant swim, but most likely the next member will be somebody without real usage.
Like Robin who asked to join and was allowed to stay.

"45 degrees" lol. That is hilarious. One more new crew member and thats it. They don't need too many because then characters will start being neglected in the story. And I don't want it to be a DF user though. It's a ship with too many people who can't swim. Actually I would have rather Brook have not been a DF user because what is his power good for now?

There are going to be two more members likely, call me crazy but I've always held out a wish that Vivi will rejoin the crew >.>
