Thread: About Devil Fruits

You know, I recall a whole lotta time back (when I was only beginning to read "One Piece") I came across information that for some reason now became interesting to me.

I read in a magazine about manga, that there are exactly 108 types of Devil Fruits in "One Piece". What's more, it was also written there that the number isn't random and has a reason behind it.

Now I can recall this being mentioned at any part of the manga, so it got me thinking did anyone else came across this sort of information and if so, does he/she know why there are (supposedly) 108 types of DF?

And now, to shine a bit (): so far, we know about Gomu Gomu no Mi (Luffy), Sube Sube (Albida), Bara Bara (Buggy), Bomu Bomu (mr. 5), Kiro Kiro (Ms. Valentine), Moku Moku (Smoker), Hito Hito (Chopper), Uchi Uchi (both Dalton and Kaku), Mera Mera (Ace), Suna Suna (Mr. 0/Crocodile), Hana Hana (Robin), Doru Doru (Mr. 3), Baku Baku (Wapool/Vaporu), Mane Mane (mr. 2), Supa Supa (Mr. 1), Toge Toge (Ms. Doublefingers), Tori Tori (Pell/Peru), Inu Inu (that dog Mr. 4 and Ms. Merry Christmas used, Chaka and Jyabura), Mogu Mogu (Ms. Merry Christmas), Ori Ori (Hina), Bane Bane (Bellamy/Binami), Uma Uma (Gon Ferou's horse), Goro Goro (Enel/Eneru), Noro Noro (Foxy), Hie Hie (Aokiji), Neko Neko (Rob Lucchi), Doa Doa (Blueno), Awa Awa (Karifa/Kalifa), Spandam's elephant-sword and Moria's (most likely Kage Kage)... and from those we do not know names of is Flamingo's (Bellamy's old boss) and Perona's (Horo Horo no Mi maybe?)... that makes at best 35 (counting movies and the marines from Eniers Lobby it should rise to about 45-50).

Any ideas which, other fruits there are maybe?

I remember reading there was that much DF but I have no idea why :s


As for known DF, we know more than 35 ATM (http://www.stoptazmo.com/showthread.php?t=5101 << some of the latest DF arn't there, along with some second rank characters), but let's say 40 for sure ^^ (movies don't count) => there are still more than 60 to guess xP

I think most of them are zoan as they are the easiest ones to imagine and we must have already seen most logias (there are not much elements left), and among them I'd like to see a scorpion DF

108? where is that written?

never heard of 108 but of cause theres probably a limit to devils fruits.

the limits is the mangakas imagination. but i guess he can create every animal-fruit type^^

Yeah... I even forgot Brook, Absalom and Teach/Black Beard...
I guess zoan types can count for the most (there already were three types of inu inu introduced, so I guess all zoans take a lot of space)...

I wonder how powerful the guy (or girl) with Stone Stone and WInd Wind Fruit will be (especially the second, since I suppose he/she would resemble the main character of my friend and mine's story ).

And yeah, movies and anime shouldn't count.

Out of pure curiousity: do you think Oda-sama will show us all the types?

We won't see all the different DF hopefully, as it would be lame IMO. I think that if we see 80 of them it will be way more than enough !

More Df = Mangga Sucks (no Flames Please)

Personally, I'm waiting on rather specific "minor fruits" like silence/invisibility/chameleon-skin, abilities similar to the dials from Sky-Piea, and at least a few types that specifically allow for flying, body hardening, and speed.
