Talking What's the differences between Luffy's 3rd Gear and Gomu Gomu Ballon ?

    Hi, everyone...

I'm just wondering... What's the difference between 3rd Gear and Gomu Gomu Ballon ? ***Gomu Gomu Ballon is the attack to bounce back the cannon ball***

Both are the same, initiated by pumping a lot of air into Luffy's body. Then why the 3rd gear is much 'harder' and powerful ?

Also, do you guys think it would be possible for Luffy to inflate his whole body ? ***and then fight a Giant or something BIG***

    Thanks guys...

    Best regards,
    -septerra-

Well both are not exactly the same but similar , the gomu gomu balloon is when Luffy inhales lots of air in his lungs, and since his lungs are made of rubber they can expand.
Now 3rd gear is when he inhales lots of air and then breathes it into his finger. the bone is as hard as steel because the air is tightly compressed within the bones
Well I doubt that Luffy can inflate his whole body. The purpose of gear 3rd is that he can use it as a mace and as a shield.

Thanks... still... a little confused here

I assume Luffy's bones are made of rubber too. So, Luffy basically bite into the bone in his thumb and blow air into his bone ?? As opposed to the space between his bone and his skin ??

    Thanks again

    Best regards,

I don't get why the balloon doesn't make luffy's lungs smaller. Is it because the balloon doesn't last as long?

even rubber can get hard when it has been expanded, and his body's chemical elements so his bones are still bones and should be the same

You guys are getting too technical now. Just believe what you see and read in amazement because this is a manga afterall. Let your imagination govern your thoughts, not your logic...

^Agree... but basically it's just that, Luffy blows air into his bones. Bones hard, Luffy made of Rubber so Big Hard Rubber... aaaah I'm getting confused now...

His body is basically made of extremely stretchable and durable volcanic rubber if I remember correctly, and volcanic rubber has a high melting point indeed.
