Thread: Anime Vs. Manga

is there any difference in manga vs. anime ?????

Anime, like all series, has more episodes because Toei had to add a few fillers to keep the plot going. Here are a few episode differences.

The manga never had a mini-arc after Foxy in which Foxy returns. Also, here is a list of the arcs never used in the manga:
Mini-Buggy
Copy/Helmeppo
Sanji vs. Woman Chef and Usopp vs. Daddy in Roguetown
Warship Island

One of those is just 2 filler episodes. I'm not listing every one.

Also, a few arc differences. Foxy arc had more challenges to keep the arc up to date with the manga and not rush through it. Also, Ao Kiji appears at a different time in a different location. Not sure why, I guess they found it neccessary.

There aren't a lot of differences, but there are some.

Also, Gomu Gomu no Bullet doesn't exist and is called Pistol in the anime. Just thought I'd bring that up.

Difference between pistol and bullet is the amount he launches his arm back, bullet he launches it really far back to hit something quite close to him (sort of like a single armed gomu gomu no bazooka) and pistol his when he just throws his arm forward

Funny how he stretches his arm really far back against Krieg and calls it Pistol even though the manga called it Bullet.

These two are used in the manga, we see them pan out in the images at the begining of each chapter.
In most cases, the mini arcs that pan out throughout the begining of each chapter, aren't seen in the anime.

And IMO the manga is better.

Except for the action scenes. Anime are almost always better when it comes to action scenes because they're actually moving around, and the fighting doesn't have to be manually visualied or imagined.

I found the bit where Nami cries and asks Luffy for help in the Arlong arc, much more tear jerking in the manga than in the anime.

What about the music used to create the atmospheric moods? Are you telling my Chopper leaving his island would have meant as much without the music? :O

One could always use their own underscoring when reading the manga that could be just as effective
