Okay... I'm quite sure that One Piece is Roger's treasure... the treasure that he got from plundering and pillaging or bounty-hunting and the like.
Yes, Shanks and Buggy were both on Roger's crew.
I think that what you said about Shanks and Buggy not being around... should be restated as "I don't think they were around when Roger hid One Piece." Why? Because... they were in his crew... and it wasn't just them, there had to have been lots of others. If they weren't around to get One Piece, then the rest of their crewmates would have been. The only problem would be strength... because there is a possibility that Roger hid the One Piece in a place where people only as strong as him (or the YonKou at this point) could reach... or maybe only people who could read the poneglyphs (Robin and the Oharans) had the ability to find it.
Iono... but I'm quite sure that A) One Piece isn't technology hellbent on destroying the government, B) Dragon =/= Roger, and C) the ancient civilization spoken of in the first post was wiped out in the hundred years of Lost History and only a few things (the poneglyphs and god weapons Poseidon and whatever) are the remnants of said civilization.
I bet he valued his nakama. I think one piece is gonna be the dead bodies of his crew.
that ^ would be very sick
Well, the story could end like "Luffy and his crew continue their journey"
In that case , it'd be sad
From what I know, having onepiece means one having everything.
Here are the series of speculations I have about Gold D. Roger and the onepiece.
[A]I'm a speculating that there must be a great catch; that one who attains it must give something back. Probably give up something that one most treasures. In Roger's case, he might have valued his nakamas the most but have chosen onepiece over them.
[B]OR MAYBE: There was a situation where he had to choose over onepiece and his nakamas. And he chose onepiece. Whatever the circumstance was, it probably involved having to have his nakamas die for his dream.
[=>]So that's why in the end he had everything (exluding the thing he gave up or he sacrificed) but guilty conscience struck him. He had everything, but he couldn't live with the guilt he had comitted over his nakamas. Thus he hid the onepiece and gave himself up to the marines.
And regarding shanks, he might have known the great potential that luffy had. Thus he showed him, by sacrificing his arm, how nakamas should be valued.
About dragon, I think this would be in a totally different ARC XD.
lmAo. What an idea...awesome. I lol'd.

This onepiece swimsuit was handed down from generation to generation ever since someone from the D family stole it. See, the Ds have in their bloodlines a hidden tendency for hentai-ness just waiting to be awoken. In fact, the father of the girl whose swimsuit was stolen was so angry and ashamed he swore to bring an end to the D family as revenge so that noone would ever speak of their humiliation again. Thus little by little he formed somewhat of a militia which led to a global organisation to make sure noone would ever hear of the word panty theif. This came to be known as the World Government. Outsiders mistook this ongoing war to come to the conclusion that it was some sort of government vs pirates rivalry.
The onepiece swimsuit is now just waiting for a D member to get close to it for his monstrous perversion to be unleashed...
How all these Ds are related does not matter, what's important is that the source of all their behemoth-like powers flows from their hidden perversion and that Dragon must have come close to the onepiece. A sleeping giant has now been awoken, now on a rampage to start a revolution of women's wear pillaging...
I could agree with that.

All right then whatever. Since you guys don't know about things like foreshadowing and plot twists in a story, I'll let you guys make your own decisions. However, reread chapter 100 through stoptazmo or where ever. If you still don't see the resemblance in Dragon and Roger, then keep believing your own stuff.
It's the same thing about when I said naruto never had parents because he's the fourth hokage reincarnated. No one believes because they're too busy reading hundreds of other mangas that have no depth too them.
