some people are idiots and dont read my full post.
I stated that they werent called emperors probably, plus gol D. rogers was not king based on his power, because Whitebeard matched him in a fight. Gol D. Roger was only considred the king because he had a ship that was able to make it wround the entire grand line and also allegedly had the most money.
Ranks exsisted back then too, its like saying back in cavemen time people didnt have ranks because they didnt live in united countries,

thats really bs people still had tribes, and just like that because piracy wasnt so big before roger doesnt mean there were no strong pirates with a classic ranking between them

Nowhere in the world can you find an organization or body of men and women living together without some sort of rankings. Even in families we have rankings.

Although they might not have been called emperors some sort of ranking system exsisted back then

Sociologically speaking, ranks exist in a formally/well-structured organization. Ranks do exist in family (like u said), on a ship, etc etc, AND ranks also exist in a less structured organizations albeit seldom formally defined.

On a fleet like WB's, ranks need to be established. But can you see that on the strawhat's except Luffy's established position as captain? Who's number 2 on Luffy's? Zoro? Nami? Usopp????

Carrying this argument forward, EVEN THOUGH there exists some sort of hierarchy on a pirate ship, I very much doubt there exists some sort of pirate ranking among the pirates themselves except some explicit acknowledgment from the pirates towards those who are prominently superior than them, e.g WB and Roger in the pre-Age of Pirates and the 4 yonkous in the Age. It is not like pirates have a guild or anything like that.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but some matters are open to discussion. Don't flame me.

And then Luffy's mom comes and kills everyone and becomes Goddess of the the pirates (God rank owns all). Also makes more babies Monkey D. with Dragon.

The point of the thread wasn't to rank the people who are alive now, but instead to discuss the potential ranks of people during and directly after the time of Gol D. Roger. Besides. Crocodilio could probably kill Kaku and Garp (unless Garp already knows how to kill him).

@ PilgrimBob :: I think that's what I said. If I didn't, then that's what I'd have wanted to say. Chances are that I didn't, though, so... There was probably no official method for ranking pirates outside of the size of their bounties.

@ Tears :: I didn't read your post, I think. Pretty sure I just replied to what was just 2 or 3 posts above mine. I don't really agree with what you're saying about Roger and Whitebeard (where Roger's only king because he's got a better ship and more money). It's a good concept or idea or whatever it is (I think Idea), but I only diasgre with it because I don't remember reading anything about Roger having the ONLY ship to cross the Grand Line. If Whitebeard was so strong, then you'd think he'd be able to circumnavigate it as well.

I prefer Yonkou, Pirates king called Title not Rank...
In OP case i see Pirate King is higher than Emperor because after all The king is the first title there is, and obtain onepiece (whatever that is)
The tittle Emperor is given later on. And consider non of the emperor obtain onepiece neither conquer the later half of grandline, the emperor is below the pirate king

hmm imo there were other pirates around in Gol D.Roger's time except that it was that famous and he was basicaly the best at it with maybe like 3 other pirates that gave him a good fight.but after he announced that he hid his treasure in the end of th grand line it thousands of ppl became pirates.and those who grew up around that time or those who were pirates in that time became the heads of the new era.

yes, a lot of us (including me) sometimes have trouble expressing what they really mean in writing..... nuff said, there are no formal ranking of pirates circa Roger's rule... perhaps it may go like this:

RANKS of them pirates:

1. Gol D.
2. WB (close behind but not quite imo)

.
.
.
.
(somewhere around here lies the shichibukai and the remaining two emperors)
.
.

.
.
.
.
(bottom of the barrel, shanks and buggy, even though at this time perhaps shanks is already a noted prodigy of Roger's, since WB already acknowledged his existence back then -- oh perhaps blackbeard is here too, if not higher)
