THE REAson of WHITEBEARD FLAG CHANGE
By Battle Franky on AP:
Oda has made an end of Jump (WSJ #50) comment. My interpertation of this or the gist of this from reading around is, that there was some general unhappiness/opposition to the mangji symbol 卍 (obviously which is generally assosiated with the Nazi party's swastika) being used in the original flag design.
So from my understanding the manga version, has been changed to the skull & crossbones anime version. I assume the changed ver. appears in Ch.434, and Oda has made this comment to clear any confusion.
This was the talk about it.

So that's why Ace's tattoo change.....
-
i believe the change is only in the American anime because of the censors and other licensing issues, but not in the manga.... yep its just a bunch of uptight asses over here. i wonder what theyll do when Ichigo gets bankai in Bleach since the same symbol is on his zanpakutos hilt.
I like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

That symbol was origanaly used foe the buddist religion it means carma or sumthin what goes around comes around...so the nazis used it symbolisin sayin lets get the jews back for what they did...but they made it backwards from the buddists.
-
it was a pity to do that just coz they remember the Nazi....
here is the meaning of the Swastika in the Budddhism in Japan
The swastika used in Buddhist art and scripture is known in Japanese as a manji (which literally just means "the Chinese character for eternality" 万字), and represents Dharma, universal harmony, and the balance of opposites. When facing left, it is the omote (front) manji, representing love and mercy. Facing right, it represents strength and intelligence, and is called the ura (rear) manji. Balanced manji are often found at the beginning and end of Buddhist scriptures (outside India).

swatiska means peace but german freaks changed into a hateful disdainful symbol that forever remember as hate, predujice and holocasut

... well yea i mean everyone hates the memory of the nazis not surprising that it was censored. However not in all asian countries is it censored, every time my family drives from the airport to their house theirs a huge hotel with the symbol in blazin glights, i always was like wtf

so messed up how a peace love mercy happiness symbol turns into a hate death kill symbol. I wonder why whitebeard had a symbol meaning peace love mercy etc on his flag...isnt he a pirate?
