yup, i can see it in chpt 429, once everyone is in the ship, she'll bubble and hearth everyone back to the city. GG

seriously though, i think oda is a great mangaka and one piece really excels but this going merry thing is totally half-assed.

well...i thought it was a good way to let going marry go. i mean franky just tossed it out onto the water and the SH never got to say good-bye to it. This way, once and for all, get rid of the ship and get a new one. also remember that franky told us that there is somesort of ship spirit and that must be what it was in the ship, but who knows. but u have to take it easy. Notice that One Piece is fictional and psychic link with a ship is possible. And also, if u want to share ur opinions and insights and want to discuss this, do it in the right thread (Latest Manga Discussion). there is no reason to make a new thread about a topic that has been discussed over and over in the Latest Manga Discussion.

it was a very goog ending for merry IMHO

and it seemed really bad in 429, i agree, but in 430 it turned out to be extremely great and touching

Only real interest is in flaming the world of warcraft fan, I just get annoyed when people reference things to computer games sometimes.

One thought they didn't pay attention in that chapter the whole crew could hear Merry Usopp was just the first to realise what the voice was. It was a very touching point really that the whole crew was able to hear the voice calling into play a sailors close links to their ship. For examples of living ships read Robin Hobb's the liveship traders series very interesting stuff, though I haven't managed to get the last book yet.

...I don't think Oda has ever fucked up anything in the manga.

one thing is after luffy eats the Devils fruit in the flashback, and yet stays afloat in the water for a short amount of time whilst splashing around before shanks gets to him. Oda could just say that a newly ingested DF doesnt take full effects for x amount of time.

well...hes not trying to write a novel here...he has limited words and pages to write so he isnt so concerened with making everything consistent and explain everything

i think that with the going merry poping out of nowhere is a great and, um, what was the word again, unexpacted. i think that having merry come back really gave a big surprise to everyone, i have no complaints what so ever XD

Merry's pop up in 428, and every body is !!!! And every one start to ???? and some people just don't like the explaination start to @#$$%^&

Well, IMO just enjoys the world created by Oda.. If u don't like it leave it...

personally i don't think a comic has to make that much sense, its like people in the bleach forum trying to figure out the whole soul balance between ss and earth thing, I mean its a comic(manga, whatever) and if it makes too much sense its no longer fun/interesting to read.

im not complaining that this going merry thing is too fantastical or unrealistic, frankly, that is one of the main things i like about one piece.

but think about it, we had people speculating about the ultimate weapon, subamrines, going merry mk II or some franky super ship. even though there were so many great ideas and concepts going around in our heads, we all knew that no way was it going to be any of them, because we knew oda would come out with something even better, more awesome and unexpected than we could imagine. i mean, this is going merry right? its a major player in the series, its significance demands nothing short of that, correct?

but instead going merry just reappears and can talk. get what im trying to say? yea, i understand noone really dies in this manga, but this is going merry we're talking about, not some side character or miscellaneous villian. im not saying that she should die, what i'm saying is that for all the expectation, the speculated and possible outcomes.. what we got instead is just that, unimpressive.
