Well, I dunno exactly where, but I think it said they mainly sink in sea water, or ocean water, or both if they're the same. The going merry must have traversed on all sorts of waters by now, if it was a DF user, it should sink. But who knows, personally, I don't believe it's on DF.
What do you mean bullshit? Are you sure you've read One Piece? Not only is it mentioned about every damn arc, it is also said everytime Luffy falls into water.

it says DF users "can't swim", but a boat doesn't swim, so i think GM could be having a DF!!!! lol!!!
Look, some of the boat is already under water right? That means that it can float or swim at least. Which means that it doesn't have a DF power. Because if it did, like the fact that Luffy CAN'T float, it'll sink.
I'm just hoping that, they won't get a gigantic ship at least. A medium sized Battle Franky with the sheep-head mast and SH flag would look great imo.

luffy can't float because he is heavier than water, and his shape isn't made to float ; it is not the water that swallow him ~_~
I'm pretty sure even a DF boat would still be able to float. No matter how bizarre the powers of a fruit are, there's no getting around the mechanics of how a boat floats.....Whether or not it would have the strength to talk or not is beyond me.
how can a boat even eat anything? i was also wondering about this with that sword that someone used quite a while back. or was it an animal that ate a sword devil fruit? i don't remember.

Moreover, even if Going Merry didn't somehow sink [which it would, despite its shape, as Devil Fruits do not work under the laws of physics and logic], its power would not be active in the ocean. The ship would be a normal ship in the water.

It doesn't matter if its a damn boat. It is said clearly as a rule of the devil fruits, that anyone who has eaten a DF can't swim, float, or go fcking scuba diving. But it all depends on Oda anyways.
Inu Inu Fruit. It was eaten by Mr.4's gun and turned it into a dog-gun. It's weird, but still possible.
