    Default The point of Douriki.

I find the aspect of how Douriki is being treated rather odd. That is to say, at first I thought that Fukoro(Kukoro? I've seen different translations.) would get a reading on each of the Strawhats and give us an idea of their physical strength. But Mr. Zipper-mouth ate an Air Cannon to the face and is pretty much out of the picture.
I also thought there was going to be some exposition on how Douriki dosn't actualy measure how able you are in battle, since it dosn't measure, or at least hasn't been said to measure, speed, intelligence, technique, defence or what have you.
I was worried that Douriki would lead to some psuedo-DBZ power level jargon and comparison, like: "I trained this much and am therefore more powerful than you!" "Yeah? Well I trained that much at fives time's Earth's gravity!" "Yeah? Well I trained at ten times Earth's gravity!" "Fifteen times" "Twenty times". Blah da blah.
It really concerned me, seeing as how alot of One Piece battles actually focus on determanation and techniques or finding the enemy's weak spot, etc.
So what do you think? Is their going to ever be a return of Douriki? I don't know how they would implement it, but I think it would be nice if Douriki was posted in a bounty, like Pirate X with a bounty of Y and a Douriki value Z. But that would make some bounties lacking, like how would one test the Douriki of Mikawk? Answer: Very carefully

no, i don't think dourikis will come back, fortunately

and i think Oda created them to mislead us before the actual fights (a lot of people thought that the pairings would be according to the physical strengh of each one.. dead wrong ^^)

Oda writes with the hand of God.
Dourikis suck and are (almost) completely useless.
I think Toriyama also wanted to get rid of the power level system, since it's specific to Freeza's henchmen, but otakus insist on a power rating for each character.

Perhaps Oda did it as a parody of "power levels", in general.

As for posting Z values on Bounty Listings, I would despise that. One appealing aspect of One Piece is the fact that characters are given bounties due to infamous deed, not actual strength. There is currently no bounty for Sanji, yet the readers know of his strength. I find such things to be quite interesting.

All the douriki was really was is a for the reader to get a gist on the differents of power between the CP9. It also list an average marine as 9 or something, so as you can see, the power of the cp9 are suppose to be ungodly.

The closest thing to a power ranking system that we know in the OP universe is thier bounty. Which actually simple measure one's threat to teh WG rather then pure strenght.
    Some how I'm unbanned.... Yay!

But my wonderful waterfall sig is gone!!! Do you have any idea how much time I spent on it!!!

I think the Douriki is a power ranking for the marines or government since they wouldn't have any bounty, would they? Well, it might be just a joke made to point out how bad Spandam is.

well in dbz the power measured already determined who would win the fight. oda has certainly not copied this stupid power measuring, but got inspired by it. douriki seems to be only pure strength, but as jyabura said, there are still the abilities which make a huge difference. maybe lucchi has more physical power than luffy, but luffy can use much better techniques (id say). dbz is just, i have 200000, you have only 160000, so i will defeat you easily with one of my super strong attacks. eneru, smoker and ace (correct names?) would have low dourikis, but be especially strong cuz of their abilities. so i dont think douriki is useless, it just "updates" us on how physically strong the enemies are by now, lol.

I think the Douriki system ranks (not measure) combat prowess, as in how well they can fight. Lucci got a 4000 because he's fo' shizzle, but Kaku and Jabura aren't quite as cool, so they get 2500 and 2290 respectively. The rest of the fighters are built weirdly and/or are too weak or too slow. Fukurou has a tremendous amount of stamina (due to his size) but easy to hit. Kumadori has too much hair, and is easy to hit, but he's strong. Blueno has a very powerful tekkai (his specialty I think) but he's kind of slow. Calipha lacks physical strength (because she's a woman), and she's not very bright ("blonde"ness?).
