When has Zoro ever told the crew about his past? Outside of mentioning "a promise" he made to be the best swordsman, he has yet to tell everyone about Kuina and how she died. Which I still find odd.

It doesn't get clearer than that.
She simply fell down some stairs and died. I'm not sure if they explained what stairs she fell down though.
Personally, I think she probably killed herself over her bitterness about being born a female.

Anyway, her actual falling was never shown, but it was mentioned in Zoro's flashback.

Yep, unbeatable with the sword, yet terminated by a flight of stairs.

I think she fell down the stairs while she was coming down from the attic (or something) to return that sword of hers? Well, that was how it was in the anime, I didn't read the manga for that part, I'm a hybrid. =\

Well, I don't expect everyone to remember though, it was quite sudden and abrupt. You would think she would have die in a blaze of glory or something ...

If I'm not wrong, in the anime the sword was in the basement of a storehouse, and the reasoning for her being there was that she was looking for her whetstone. Though, if she fell down the stairs and then died, how did they know she was looking for a whetstone? I think her death had something to do with her father, something about him creeps me out. And then there is Tashigi, I don't know if they're the same person or not, but if we just had some history for her, things would be put to rest, or maybe not. I mean, we know more about smoker than we do Tashigi, plus we haven't seen 'em in a while in the manga.

In the manga, she was just putting away her sword as the usual routine, then she tripped and died. That clumsiness is only matched by Tashigi.

It makes Zoro seem even more pathetic as a kid. But now, not even God can stop him.
