Thread: Open Piece On 4Kids TV

Have you guys seen it? It sux. The voices for the actors are totally wrong...like really wrong. Usopp has a low voice and Sanji talks like a retard, seriously. The color is also screwed up, it's way to bright. The worst part of it are the dialogues, which are not funny and totally out of place.

This is why One Piece is hated in the U.S. and so loved in Japan. What kind of crap did they make it into. I almost barfed after watching about 2 episodes.


Japanese Dub so much better

i havent seen many of the translations but it sucks compared to the manga!

and it's heavy censored

i think there was an article on arlong park that talked about that...

- The opening was changed as well as the rest of the music. The dub opening is a rap.
- Everyone said water was in the barrel that Luffy was in instead of rum.
- Dialogue for Nami. Such as, “You're stepping on my toe!" when the cannons were being fired at the ship.
- When the pirates were rushing on the ship they took out the “bwum�Eeffect.
- The blood on the wall when Coby hit the wall was taken out.
- Shortened the kick to the nuts
- Shortened the great nap line to just one short line, and they added mouth movements to Luffy for the line.
- The thing about Coby being weak was shortened. Also, Luffy said, "You're gonna be working for them the rest of your
life." instead of “Oh, you are a coward. I don't like you. Hahaha.�E Which is completely different.
- When Coby was shouting at Luffy about being a pirate, they took out mention of the Grand Line
- Luffy hitting Coby was taken out and they talked about it.
- Marine was changed to Navy. They also edited the sails on the Marine ships to say Navy.
- Zoro was changed to Zolo. They also called him a samurai.
- Pistol was changed to Blast in Luffy’s move. They also cut part of the move.
- Luffy didn’t hit Coby at the end of the episode.
- No TO BE CONTINUED frame, ending, or preview.


Edits List ( 2e ep )

- The top of the post Zoro was tied was removed to make less reference to a cross.
- When Rica was giving Zoro Riceballs,
it was changed to cookies. Originally Helmeppo spits it out because it had too much sugar, when it was supposed to be
seasoned with salt.
- When Luffy was making a deal with Zoro and his swords, Zoro says he's an honest pirate when in the original he calls
him a dumb pirate.
- In the same scene, when Luffy does a Gum Gum Rocket, Zoro says "What Kind of Rubberman is he" when in the original he
doesn't know of his powers. The orginal line was "What the devil is he?"
- When Morgan slashed his subordinate, it was edited so he hit him with axe and not slice him.
- At the end, Luffy was shot with "Super Soakers"

- Helmeppo's gun was changed to some sort of weird spring/mallet thing
- When Morgan attacks Luffy, he tells him "Die", which was cut out. When Luffy spins his line "I don't wanna" was cut out.
- Blood was edited out when Zoro slashed Morgan.
- When Koby explains about the Grand Line, the map was changed.

there are always changes and they are always for the worse im used to it!

If they're gonna take out all that stuff out of the anime then y bother to air it in US. One Piece is a slow anime that requires to watch it for a long time to you like it...at least for me it was. If the episodes are so bad in the beginning, why would any US viewers be attracted by it's relate-to-the-past story lines and if they onli want the fighting and violence, they are censored.

Japanese Dub so much better

It's utter crap but I don't think it's hated in the US. Most people who hate the english version do so because they know how much better the original is. I'm sure plenty of ignorant kids enjoy the 4kids dub.

ah so many changes I dislike like sanji's brooklyn voice '' He's ment to have a french sterotype voice' he's blonde & a COOK!! its how the japanese did it. Also to tell ya the truth Robins & Nami's chest's where edited to like a b cup'

I heard they replaced the guns with super soakers or something.. I haven't seen that yet but from the one episode I did manage to catch it seems like they changed sanji's cigarette into a lollipop candy...

My question is, how much money do they waste digitally editting everything?
