Thread: Clothing continuity

I was re-reading through some of the current storyline chapters and I noticed something odd. As you probably noticed, the "Meet Baroque Works" chapter page story has Crocodile busting out of prison. But on 398 he has....TWO HANDS. And once he gets the sea-cuffs off, he gets his golden hook back...as well as a cigar...and a Zippo. Now I know a manga like One Piece isn't big on practicality or certain types of continuity, but I've always wondered about the clothes of DF uesrs. Aces' clothes don't burn off every time he uses his flare-flare ability, much to the fan-girls disapointment. Buggy's clothes always come back together. And Choppers pants and hat never seem to rip, not even in Colossous Point, which is my name for his current state... just 'cause it sounds better.
Luffy's hat keeps getting cut up though, or at least it used to, until he got it a freakin' draw string.
There are other things, like how Kakku's clothes streched some absurd lengths during beast transformation. Same with Luchi.
It seams that wounds are permament, such as Luffy and Crocodiles scars...just where did Crocodile get that face long scar? And clothes kinda differ. What'cha think? It may be just because Oda can't have all his DF users running around naked.

Well, clothing stays on just cuz it's complicated and un-fun to have clothes be an obstacle to using powers.
Scars seem to be gotten before the person gets the DF, but it doesn't go away after the DF either. It's magic not science.

Also Oda admitted that he forgot to put Croc's hook on his hand in that pic.

Seriously though, it's one of those things where too much thinking could ruin the creation.

And remember: Physics/Chemistry never applies in manga/anime.

Only some of it, actually. C'mon this is supposed to be FANTASY.

All the clothes in the One Piece world are created with fire resistant self-repairing nano fibre spandex.

Hey this is a manga/anime after all, we cant exactly apply real life theories to this sorta thing. Ive also noticed no one in OP has to go to the toilet!

if you really thought about it Lucchi would be naked from his clothes burning off due to friction and luffy would never have shoes on (which he usually doesnt) nami would be running around topless and Zoro would have slices all over himself from his own attacks and other peoples....

They don't need the toilet, Luffy usualy pisses in the sea....XD then Nami comes and kicks him.

Anyway, I thought about clothes, too, but only in Logia-users' case...
And I've solved the problem with this idea: They demateralize their clothes as well as their body... But with this logic, they could demateralize even the entire island XD But logic doesn't apply, as widely-known. XD
